Casteism in India is nothing but a covert mask of socio-economic 'collusion'.
by usa on Jan 27, 2008 10:59 AM  Permalink

Vote for candidates from your Caste only.
Do NOT care if he is corrupt/competent.

And just watch the magic...

India is a 'democracy' and NOT 'meritocracy' like Singapore.
by m on Dec 25, 2007 11:34 AM  Permalink

Hence it is imperative to appreciate 'diversity' in Government (Legislature,Judiciary,Administration) and
Private Institutions (Reliance, Infosys etc)
in order to prevent socio-economic 'collusion' in India.

I request Government of India to implement 'reservations' in Judiciary and Private Institutions as per Caste Census in India.

1. 52% of Judges should be from OBC.
2. 29% Judges should be Dalits and Tribals.
3. Remaining Judges should be from other castes.

stupid case
by Anandh on Nov 01, 2007 12:08 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

what a stupid case by PMK.. They say that creamy layer should be included else the 27% allocation will remain vacant.. This proves that reservation is only for caste politics and not for the emancipation of the backward class... in fact other than the creamy layer those people who have already enjoyed reservation in one generation should not enjoy in further generations.. else the effect of reservations will be very narrow and will actually further increase the rich-poor divide.. This will only cause discontent.. The Gujjar-Meena clash is only the beginning of a much bigger disaster..

what PMK is inderectly saying is if creamy layer are excluded from reservation seats will go empty, because all obc's will come under creamy layer that is they are economical and educationaly well off.If obc creamys layer is excluded from reservation they are going to put on all pro-qouta party to end reservation in toto, that is if I cannot get even you should not get.

Reservation: Stumbling block for India's development
by Jayatheerthan K on Nov 01, 2007 12:08 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's high time that we STOP reservation and fill positions purely based on merit.

Only those who don't have a confidence in their own merit, will want to get a job / college admission on the basis of their caste / any other back door entry.

Dont be surprised if our politicians ammend our constitution to grant reservations for following categories:
1) Son / Daughter of politicians
2) Kids of Cricket Stars (those born to Hockey champions may not get reservation)
3) Kids of Cinie Stars
4) 'Minority' people infiltrated through Indo-Pak border
5) Sons / Daughters of those who supported Naxalites / LTTE / ULFA etc
6) Special reservation for kids of Underworld Dons
7) Relatives of NRIs

India will soon become a Developed country.

JAI HIND!

SC questions quota benefits for creamy layer
by sudhakar bonthu on Nov 01, 2007 12:02 AM  Permalink

As long as there is disproportionate representation of upper classes in politics, high positions of power, higher echelons of society...there is bound to be a context for reservations. Instead of clamoring for more vacancies, more opportunities, we clamor for reducing reservations. Ultimately it is the Pie size that matters, modifying the breakup can only take us that far.
Reservations are an affirmative action of the state to bring about lasting equality. Thus it is seems to be logical step in the right direction and is not as if some kind of favor is being extended to the down trodden. It has become order of the day for people to criticize reservations, that even the downtrodden feel it fashionable to criticize the same.
That certain castes in the down trodden are the initial beneficiaries does not warrant the reservations be removed for the so called "creamy layer%u201D. Instead the logical step is to have the reservation percentage split up for various sub castes and put a cap based on their proportion of their population.
I think it is best left to courts and to the votaries of Reservation and Anti Reservation to fight out on the reservations.
I think others who not only have limited information and limited statistics on the social constitution of our society, better not be judgmental or focus on discussing these sensitive issues.

''Creamy Layer'' - should be dealt with by the OBC and BC communities themselves
by Wander Wolf on Oct 31, 2007 11:58 PM  Permalink

maybe they will be kind and generous enough to rather struggle and beg for food and let the goldsmiths, lawyers, doctors and architects from the OBC/BC communities send in their kids using the quota...... Maybe they can have sub-quotas... and sub-sub-quotas... or probably go in for the final deal - sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-quotas...... etc etc....
We can definitely afford to spend a few thousand crores and thousands of precious manhours in deciding what part of the sub-sub-sub-quotas can be sub-sub-divided into further sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-quotas...

Basically poor people from OBCs and BCs should fight against creamy layer people
by Nikhil on Oct 31, 2007 11:36 PM  Permalink

Basically poor people from OBCs and BCs should fight against creamy layer people in OBCs and BCs.
Because the biggest enemies of poor people in reserved category are no one else but their own caste creamy layer people who take advantages of all reservations.
