facts
by Anoop RB on Nov 23, 2011 08:39 PM  Permalink

Fact 1
The british builder who buld the dam estimated a 50 year life to the dam.

Fact 2
This is a river which is originating in kerala & flowing through kerala. Dam is situated in kerala. The risk is for the people & villages in kerala.

Fact 3.
If this dam breaks, all watre, trees rocks due to flood will reach idukki dam[biggets in asia], will it be able to hold this much water. Idukki dams spill-way can only open 2 TMC of water in 4 hours. When the 11 TMC water from mullaperiyar reach idukki, it will fail. Causing distruction to 30% kerala area.

Nationalise all the rivers
by Die Hard on Oct 31, 2007 10:15 PM  Permalink

The most viable solution for the river water sharing crisis all over India (be it TN-KR, TN-KL or PB-HR) is to nationalize the rivers and form an authority/board like Powergrid (for Electricity).

In that case no state can claim that the river is its property.

Kerala Politicians
by Tom Dick on Oct 31, 2007 08:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Few remarks in here says that Kerala politicians are useless. I think we need to correct that statement. They are useless for the people who elected them. These politicians are doing well for themselves. They even made an arrangement to share power alternatively. Who cares if mullaperiyar Dam burst and kill few lakh Mallus? Even that may be an opportunity for them. If the Kerala MPs (LDF) have any self respect they should have resigened with respect to bifurcating Palghat Railway division. BJP who has no MLAs called for a harthal in Kerala on 1st Nov. They should be calling for a harthal in TN as they are the ones who is inaugurating the new division tomorrow. The central ministers from Kerala has done nothing to sort out either the railway issue or the Mullaperiyar issue. The local government create more controversy and stop all developmental projects. The centre is governed by Congress and supported by commies. There never was a better opportunity for Kerala to gain mileage. I wonder if God himself can save this state!!

Value life
by aus ant on Oct 31, 2007 07:13 PM  Permalink

This whole issue boils down to how much value u accord to human beings.
From TNs point of view, if the dam breaks, a few lakh of people will die. So what. If that is what God has in store....
This is totally unacceptable on the Kerala side.
No one is willing to take chances.

Mullaperiyar dam
by asokaraj e on Oct 31, 2007 06:12 PM  Permalink

All disputes on the water front should be dismissed and if at all there are state ministries, it should also be dissolved.

There should be one central ministry on the lines of defence looking after interest of all States. To the utmost possible, dams should be constructed and utilised by all people wherever possible to the maximum extend irrespective of any special interest of certain people. Interest of majority people should be taken into account whether it is of South or North, East or West.

Most useless brains

good section of Kerala people not use their brins until they leave that state. this is not an exagerated fact but happenings in kerala proves. 100 litracy doesnt mean all are educated. most of the educated people left the state and working abroad or other states - (25 p/cent)
remaing educated in the state using their brain to cheat less or uneducated people. the smallest state has more political party than entire India. all paries except BJP, united in two groups under Congress and CPM as UDF & LDF these fronts ruling the state one by one every five years. 29 mps from the state support UPA, but they cannot bring a single industry for the state. even they cannot stop projects and establisments already in moving into other states. 3 central Ministers do nothing for the state. once they are in power starts in-fighting groupwise to deviate the peoples attention. same time all leaders make money how much they can. When congress in power communist opposes all projects, next term they took over power start with the same projects they opposed with month long protests. The voting class of people not used their brain any election they just vote for the party fooling them.
Imagine kerala all 20 MPs supporting UPA at center without any shame Left and congress fought each other in election killing many of their workers for nothing and sharing power at center.
So 100 Litracy desnt stand for-all are educated or using their own brain.

can anyone say the facts which I wrote are not correct.
1. UDF and LDF fought and LDF win 19 MP's UDF 1 became minister 19 Left's supports UPA.
2. 75%of Palghat Railway division transferd to TN. All Kerala MPs 20 9 rajyasabha, did nothing to block this or not tried to get another project.
3. Alloted raiway coach factory too now moved to TN.
4. Trivandrum International airport indipendant authority removed and transferd under TN to cuting down its all future developments and authority.
5. Kozhikode International Airport with 79000 passengers/month did not allowed any private international flights to operate, passengers suffering with Indian, and AirIndia flights cancelling trips every day. But nearest airport in TN Coimbature with 1000 passengers per month got internations airlines permission to operate. All MP's of Kerala did nothing to pressure get this for Kozhikode.
6. Kannur Airport permission granted by Center Kerala govt still not accuired land for it.
7. National Highways of all other states now changing 4 tracks to six in Kerala still sing track. still Govt not taken dicision for upgrading it.
this list may endless if you need!

TN has problems with the rest of world, when it comes to protecting their own interests. They are extremely selfish and narrow minded with no nationalist approach at all. They will fight agaist North India and Shrirama, Karnataka, Kerala, AP and even Srilanka. Black skins, blacker their minds
