Not necessarily........
by Bhasmasur on Oct 25, 2007 04:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For aan advanced nation like the US or the UK, the harnessing of nuclear tehcnologu does really come with the associated evils as they have advanced disposal schemes that guard the nation against the perils of nuclear waste...

But the same cannot be said about a developing asian nation like India with its teeming millions and rampant corruption....Even though norms and standards can be established and put in place for nuclear waste disposal, implemenation in accordance with the norms might remain a utopian dream, thereby endangering the lives of the masses.......

Simply put, what is applicable to a developed country is not necessarily applicable to a developing country like India.....

Thermal, Hydro, MHD, Wind may continue to be harnessed....nuclear techonology can be put on hold until we can have clear blueprint as to how we would go about tackling and disposing nuclear waste......

Thanks,
Bhasmasur

Well!

Going by your logic there is great doubt if india can handle there nuclear war head they already possess. The same logic can be extended to other high end technologies such as misseles and rockets.Due to rampant corruption they may pass on to wrong hands.

I believe the situation is not as bad as you portray.India has matured enough to handle hig end technology and manage it safely.

Similar situation is exit when India fighting

They are happy with British rule.

Why should one blame a particular state ? You should be aware that near about 45% Bengalis doesn't vote for/support Left. And also Bengali Left leaders were not against the deal, it's Mr. Karat and Mr. Yechuri who were always in a mood to blackmail Dr. Singh. One reason is that when you have parties (Left) and people (Mrs. Sonia) calling the shots from outside, who have "No responsibility, but full authority".

If Dr. Singh has any little bit left in his spine, he should throw away PM's post.

Dont try to put Nehru and Gandhi in the same boat as Commies. Nehru was the PM during 62 war with China, the commies where all out in welcoming them during the war to over throw us and establish commie rule. This is what you Bengalis are giving us election after election. There used to be a time when, there was a saying what Bengal is now, India will be after 50 years, this claim has reversed. The new saying is what Bengal is today is what Africa was 50 years ago !! Your entire state has been brain washed with propoganda of the worst type.

The leaders you speak of lived in a different era. If Manmohan was living in their era then he too wouldn't have tried facilitating this deal.

In the present context , this deal is in the interest of our nation and that's why Manmohan committed himself to it.Past doesn't always fit into the shoes of present.I sure hope my message goes through.

Uddhav-
It's true that in WB, in reality comrades are not the choice. Ask them how they win the elections. About Nuclear deal, Basu n Buddha & Co was initially in favor of the deal but Karat is absly against it. It's more or less just one man show. He's killing the deal. There was a talk of $20 mil from their sugardad China, I read it at this web site only. Now rest of the comrades will follow the same path anyway like sachcha communists. Now - what is 'sachcha' for them - pro-China and anti-US. And, JL Nehru and MK Gandhi's era was different. In all practicality, we need nuclear fuel unless there's some other alternative. Do you have another practical solution?
