Dont sign 123 as we don't have nuclear skills. We may end up converting nuke plant to nuke bomb. Rather sign a OOO deal with sheikh Osama. We can give him a safe haven for his oil fields. We have big population which Osama can first convert to islam and then turn them to suicide bombers. He can then place these suicide bombers in each american city. India will then have direct control over USA.
We shall not waste time.

BAN COMMIES
by Kannan on Oct 25, 2007 04:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The author says
"Given the stakes, China was expected to pull out all the stops to sabotage the N-treaty."

Dont't you'll think that is what exactly has happened. Left is still China's stooge. if we want our country to prosper we should ban Commies.
Because communism thrives on poverty and they will make sure that people are in poverty to thrive. If they meant business WB would have been a successful state. But look at WB now. We find people in bus fighting for 10 paisa with the conductor. Such is the state of affair. And Congress will do anything to cling to power. They would even sell their mothers to cling to power. The prophetic statement by Periyar that 'August 15th 1947 is a black day in Indian democracy, it's just a transfer of power from one trader to another' is very much true in current conditions

Very very interesting. Didn't know this about Periyar. May be tomorrow they'll call it another historic blunder. NS Bose was dog of Tejo. China's N-deal with US is fine but they smell US imperialism when India signs a deal.

Mr. Kannan I feel you hold too shallow knowledge to comment on a serious topic like this, that's why you are counting upon 10 paisas & 25 paisas to back up your reasons. You don't know that due to the pressure from the Bengal communists the Left is still supporting the UPA govt. and Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya voiced his full support for the Nuke deal despite being a part of a very disciplined party - but only to save the interests of his own state, as he enjoys full support from Dr. Manmohan Singh in promoting many projects in WB, which gets funded by World Bank and JBIC, nothing wrong in that anyway.
Also keep Mr. Periyar with the limits of a section of TN, his is not a respectable figure all over the country, as he was the main man for generating hatred for Hindi in TN. Also a person who calls 15th Aug' 47 as a Black Day is nothing but a terroist - such irresponsible person deserves reprimation and not accolades if you are actually a true Indian.

Even Russia said that they cannot do much without the singup by NSG. What a friend. They don't want to annoy the other big guys.
Our scientist and rascals don't understand it.
We need to maximize into what we have i.e sugarcane waste, solar, etc. Then we can look into other avenues. We don't have any energy policy to utilize what we got

Dont write on the subject you dont understand
by Nitya Nanda on Oct 25, 2007 04:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr. Anil Kumar, you might have been a great pilot. I dont dispute that. But I dont understand why you should write on issues you dont really understand.

There is no question of losing face if India backs out on nuclear deal. India is a rare exception where the govt sign an international agreement without consulting the parliament, forget about any public debate.

Obviously, there are hundreds of examples when govt negotiated a deal but had to back out later as the parliament did not allow. Even the US has done it several times. So heaven will not fall if India backs out.

Can you explain why the govt did not go for public debate or even a proper debate in the parliament beforing signing a deal on such an important issue? The fact is that the majority in the parliament is opposed to the deal!

In fact even the left parities have been making this point. But still they are not willing to engage in a lerger debate involving all parties.

How can we go for a deal that the majority in the parliament opposes just because our constitution allows that and the framers of our constitution did not anticipate such situation?

We however avoided such a situation by following a consensus based approach. Even the Vajpayee government was about to send troops to Iraq but did not go ahead as the opposition parties objected. Is it not strange that a nominated PM of a minority govt wants to take such a major decision disregarding the majority opinion of the parliament??

Nitya, I agree with you 110%. when constitution was being written, at that time Nehru was PM. so he & his followers never agreed a constitution which makes Nehru to depend on the parliments permission .. they anticipiated this that why they gave PM more power than parliment..

I agree with the essense of this comment, but take umbrage at the suggestion that the author should "write on issues [he or she] really understand[s]." The author is exercising his right to an opinion under the very same "public debate" principles Nitya seems to hold dear.

Perhaps the temptation of publically scolding an air force pilot with an injury discharge, for his views, was too much to resist.

backing out because of stupid left pressure is something different from backing out due to majority opinion of the parliament. I think you missed the point.
