I'm not sure about best but certainly one of the better place in india when compared to indian standards. I think it need 1. urgently need good public transport sytem 2. big problem with traffic. traffic police is too soft here, u can drive and stop anywhere as u like on ringroads 3. they take months & years to complete flyovers, roads etc. 4. people r very soft and good but other way u can say not that lively, also not taking up matters(problems) in their hands...

I agree. people are scared to live there if you are not a Tamil. I know some tamilians and they too ackowledge that. to stay in chennai you got to be a tamil
-Ever growing regional and lingual division and misbihaves with outsiders? - Opening of big companies does not eman great things are going on..most of the companies here are for cheap labour who don't question the company's activities. 5 years ago there was no as such thing like Kannadiga and Kannada feeling..from where all fo sudden this all arrived as a blackspot on the face of Bangalore?
- Pathetic infrastructure unabel to cope up with the sudden development. Not a single road you will find without jam.
- The traffic police is worst here who runs on bribe. - The shopekeepers and owners in most of the places overcharge the outsiders mainly north Indians as well as misbehave with them. - For most of the outsiders from north this is a place which is far away and not well connected to the rest of India. It consumes almost one week in journey by train out of 20 days of paid leave per year!
Bangalore has many many merits but the recent developments bangalore stands no where to even itself what it used to be upto 5 years ago. Public tolerance has gone down damn low and Bangalore looks to be on the path of next Chennai where no one wants to go and work! It's a hype and myth.

And with criminal and cruel Auto rikshaw drivers of bangalore..one can't find the worst city of India mroe than Bangalore. these auto drivers have converted hell on roads in bangalore. The dupe poelpe, fight aand come in group and oepnly do crime and fights in preenc eof police and public even.

And the best thing is WE ALL are responsible for this. Just see how cities in USA are maintained & the kind of infracstructure they have. We Indians are Dirty & Law Breakers by Nature & we can never keep our surroundings clean or maintain the infrastructure the Govt. provides us. We only find means of stealing & defacing it all the time. Our EGOS are bloated sky high & we don't believe in respecting other people's space & diginity. The way we drive on the raods explains a lot about us.

Dont say about the US...we also have seen. can you take a walk in Baltimore at night? have you seen new york subway, how dirty it is? can you ever get parking in any big city in the US? US cities have also similar problems....at least indian cities are not that unsafe, there are no homicides at least. even if people rob you, they will let you live...in the US you will be mugged and if you dont have a purse, yopu are killed...is this development? is it how cities should be?

Don't mark this message as abuse. This is truth about Chennai/ Apart from climate, u have water problem and the Language problem as the biggest drawback. People don;t want to speak and respect HINDI at all in Chennai. Chennai people think that they r gr8 by speaking Tamil and no wonder they would make huge efforts to make Tamil as our national language. I was in Paris for 3 weeks,Though the infrastructure is so advance (Bus,Metro facilities)Traffic literally sucks there.

well i had come to thinking that blore would be as good as chandigarh.. better but then i was proved wrong.. god! its been two years here and i have seen it change from good to bad and from bad to worse.. i guess the authour needs to travel places to say which is the best city in India.. no doubt each place has its own charm... theres one thing in each city that can draw a person to it.. blore that ways has weather.. what else?? taking an auto is a task.. going out in the evening another task cause of the traffic on the kind of roads we have here.. which the ppl fail to maintain.. personal hygenie by citizens is poor.. the ppl need to start from their own houses to keep this city clean and get back the garden city name back... it would be nice to see the city drawing ppl here for a personal trip rather than the IT boom... if Delhi can come back to shape.. actually its become much better than what it was 5 yrs ago.. why no blore???
