It is shameful that policemen are used as supari for encounter killing and mass media playing a big role in deifying the encounter-wala police officers. A year after the Connought Place shoot-out, the film "Satya" made by Ramgopal Varma depicted a police commissioner named Amod Shukla commenting on an isomorphic incident "What would the police do? Ask for identification? If there were terrorists in place of business, then the corpse of policemen would be lying there. We policemen are not butchers & butchers also cut the meat only when people eat it". After this dialogue, he was killed by members of underworld, and this visualization no doubt was enough rationalization of the necessity of encounter-killing. This was made worse in the film "Aab tak chhappan", where credits were given to the encounter specialist Daya Nayak.
I hope the family members of the victims of Daya Nayak will be emboldened now to take action against him.
And government will take enough safeguards to stop this business of police working as supari of the high profile people.
But all said and done, death sentence would have been too harsh. Even life sentence should be reviewed if these police officers were pressurized to do what they did.
Most important is to nurture public opinion against encounter killing which has been made corrupt by films like "Satya" and "Aab tak chhappan". Movies like "Madhyanam Hathya" goes one step up towards sanctioning uxoricide.

abbe lallu... kuchh ataa pataa hai.. ki death penalty kab di jaati hai.. rarest of rare cases me... CP shoot out is just due to mistaken identity...aur is tarah k cases me..maxmimum sajaa hai ye.. aur ye sab chhoot bhi jaate agar shoot out k baad inhone jayada hoshiyaari naa dikhaai hoti.. mare gaye bando ko badmaash dikhaane ki..aur agar sajaa milti bhi to kam hi milti/....but wo jayad hoshgiyaari ki wajah se fans gaye...
i feel the culprit senior policemen should not get any relief in High Court or even in Supreme Court. Only the junior most i.e. Costable or Head Costable should be allowed to get some releief in higher court. _________indiatvstation.com

There is no way out for common people who are terrorised by Goondas and Police equally. In India there is no safety system and people are living at their risk. That may be the reason Ms.Mayawati first started cleansing police force in UP. Hope UP may get some good results in this exercise in terms of protection and confidence among common people. At any cost police should not be given independence as invison in new Police reform policy because they are very bais and only political control can control them like UP otherwise they will be free to exhort and kill anybody. Thus court has taken right decision and it would better if there were hanged till death to deter their collegues who are indulged in this type of fake encounters.

Hundreds such 'encounter killings' occur every day in every part of this fetid land - jaing a few cops in one or two well-piblicised cases will not make the problem go away - the cops will just change tactics and be more careful in the future.
