China has to set an exemple to gain the trust of India. It seems not happening. We keep getting reports of Chinese intrusions on our borders, china equiping Paki forces etc etc. These aggressive postures do not spell good intentions on the part of China. They are no doubt sweet talkers and often chant the mantra of Panchsheel when it comes to relations with India. We are well aware of the earlier famous mantra of Chini Hindi Bhai Bhai chanted many a times before the '65 war. We should not get swayed by these mantras but instead should put psychological pressure on them, the way they are doing to us. Let's not trust then as they don't deserve to trusted and wait and see each move they make.
India has two choices now. 1. To ally witht the US led NATO, as they seem to going ahead now with the Nuclear deal etc., or 2. Form and participate in a new power centre comprising Russia & China.
It makes sense in being an almost equal partner in a new power axis than a fringe player in an already well developed NATO.
India can not change its borders and has to live with China-it is a ground reality. Then instead of seeing CHina as an adversary, it is better to negotiate and come to an agreement by dividing the spheres of influence and grow alongwith Russia & China.
By doing so India is not becoming an adversary to USA but may not enjoy all the strategic benefits as they seem to come with the nuclear agreement. But in the long run India stands to gain by being a partner in the Russia-China-India axis.
Once this partnership is finalised, India can take advantage of the current anti US feelings in Pak and rope them in too. Hopefully, by that time democratic forces would settle in Pak. Pak should be made to realise that it makes every sense to be with India as its friend CHina is also with India than against India. Neighbourhood friendship makes lots of economic sense and less resources being scattered aroud military expenditure.
Look at US & Canada. They have the longest border perhaps in the world but has not even a skirmish resulted in that relationship.
The samething should be worked out with China & Pak too. And then look outwards to expand your infl

Poor Knowledge of History is dangerous thing. USA has been at war with both Mexico & Canada at various points in history. However given the fact of day both neighbors realised that assimilation was a better option then war! However being governed by Mullahs & Commies respectively; China & Pakistanis are driven by survival instinct the welfare of their people! So i will say; FAT CHANCE!

Dear Wishywasy, US-Canadian border is the world's longest least guarded border. Even to day it is the fact.
Regarding your second observation, at the end of the day it is not anything but monetary gains that guide and sustain alliances. If China-India-Russsia can gain monetarily in the long run, and I have reasons to believe that they will, it is a sustainable relationship. Pak has to go by CHina's advice in settling the problems with India
Are they going to return the occupied territories? Are they going to free Tibet? Are they going to stop supporting terrorists in the north-east? NEVER.

This is an inward looking attitude. Look outwards and try to calculate how much both of you can gain by being together. Settle your disputes. If China is not going to leave Tibet is India going to leave J&K?
Leave alone India, the whole world including US led NATO and even USSR could not do anything about Tibet even when they were powerful and when China was not as powerful as they are now. SO forget it now.
See what both of you can jointly accomplish.
China needs India more than the US needing India. That gives better bargaining power and share for controlling spheres. Pak will not go anywhere. WIth the current anti US feelings Pak has to go to China. If India is with CHina, China will well advise Pak to also be a joint partner with a smaller share. That will be a sustainable relationship. This understanding will be a natural one.
At the end of the day, how much ever England and French fight among themselves for centuries, the whitemen solidarity comes into effect when an outsider comes onto the scene.
By the same token, how much India & Pak may hate each other their old cultural bonding will come into effect and all the old wounds will disappear faster

why dont you see a better side of the stories. Sometimes we act like dumb indians and prove to the world that 8% growth is a mirage to the world
