chinese hacking
by alka gupta on Oct 19, 2007 01:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India should not allow Chinese products in the Indian market. This might be a strategy of China to cripple Indian Economy and then attack India.China is very clever and cunning.

No point in blaming Chinese
by abhijit k Khairkar on Oct 19, 2007 01:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This will continue to happen till we make
our own systems perfect . There is no point in
blaming Chinese .
They are in such a position that they can virtually sink the US economy . But they are very clever , because they know it will damage them too on US counter offensive .

I THINK YOU DID NOT SEE AN ARTICLE TWO OR THREE DAYS AGO ON REDIFF. IN THAT ARTICLE ACTUAL POSITION OF CHINESE FDI WAS DISCUSSED. CHINA IS IN NO POSITION TO DISTURB US.

what if TOR was being used ?
by CS Shyam Sundar on Oct 19, 2007 01:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guys., being in the IT security field there are number of methods to spoof and work. One of the famous techniques include Onion Routing Techniques. A working implementation called TOR does exist and methods like proxy chaining and TOR chaining will make a hacker completely undetected and completely untraceable.

DEAR SHYAM SUNDAR

ONION ROUTING HAS SEVERAL WEAKNESSES. FOR ONE, IT DOES NOT PROVIDE MUCH TO DEFEND AGAINST TIMING ANALYSIS. IF AN ATTACKER OBSERVES A RELATIVELY UNDER-LOADED ONION ROUTER, HE OR SHE CAN LINK INCOMING/OUTGOING MESSAGES BY OBSERVING HOW CLOSE TOGETHER IN TIME THEY ARE RECEIVED AND RE-SENT. HOWEVER THIS CAN BE OVERCOME BY BUFFERING SEVERAL MESSAGES AND THEN TRANSMITTING THEM USING A PSEUDORANDOM TIMING ALOGRITHM.
ONION ROUTING NETWORKS ARE ALSO VULNERABLE TO INTERSECTION ATTACKS AND PREDECESSOR ATTACKS. INTERSECTION ATTACKS RELY ON THE FACT THAT ONION ROUTERS PERIODICALLY FAIL OR LEAVE THE NETWORK; THUS, ANY COMMUNICATION PATH THAT REMAINS FUNCTIONING CANNOT HAVE BEEN ROUTED THROUGH THOSE ROUTERS THAT LEFT, NEITHER CAN IT INVOLVE ROUTERS THAT JOINED THE NETWORK RECENTLY. IN A PREDECESSOR ATTACK, AN ATTACKER WHO CONTROLS AN ONION ROUTER KEEPS TRACK OF A SESSION AS IT OCCURS OVER MULTIPLE PATH REFORMATIONS (PATHS ARE PERIODICALLY TORN DOWN AND REBUILT). IF AN ATTACKER OBSERVES THE SAME SESSION OVER ENOUGH REFORMATIONS, HE WILL TEND TO SEE THE FIRST ROUTER IN THE CHAIN MORE FREQUENTLY THAN ANY OTHER ROUTER.

Should not be a shock
by Rahul on Oct 19, 2007 01:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Couple of things:
1) US Military and Pentagon have hired thousands of ethical hires way back in 80s or even before to preempt such things and they are able to secure their resources as well as prevent some million attacks on US sites, servers, etc...Why is that the Indian Govt waking up now. India says it is a IT leader...Didnot the leaders, politicians, babus and military folks envisage and plan for all this.
2) What is the remedy for all this? As of now 3 per day is peanuts. Slowly this will reach a million what will the govt. do. Do our babus have a plan for it?
3) Shocking is how do our Politicians have access to sensitive and matters of national security?? That is more of a concern than the chinese accessing servers or mails. Our poiliticians can sell this infiormation to anyone.
4) We should not blame the Chinese for this. They are doing their duty. Question is are we doing our duty????

Well said Rahul
India is not a IT leader actually India is toddler in this field. Look at your computer accessories on which you are working only mouse pad is made in india and if you are using optical one then there is no need for mouse pad.

And as far as security is concerned there is no need to worry. Because this country is running on BHAGWAN BHAROSE. So Rahul and all other who are here Dont Worry Be happy.

Dont think about this country think about yourself.
