It is a pity that the single largest party in Karnataka could not form the Government. It was for the love to form its own government, the BJP had deceitfully broken the Congress led government. But it fell pray to a similar act. No one, excepting the JD(S), wants to have the election. But Deve Gowda has played the cards wrongly. Or may be he was little bit too greedy.
But there is always a hope for the BJP now. There is an even chance that they can form a government by getting to the magical figure with some JD(S) MLAs. Now that JD(S) can only cry foul but if a faction goes out, they can do nothing. But this option is not a big one as the local election success would lure away those fence sitters.
But a little delay in the election may work well for the BJP. And BJP will hope that about 6 month's delay will work out fine for them. For public consumption, they may say a thousand things, but no, this is not the time for them to go to the poll.
I am affraid that the left is averse to elections at this moment. Their stock is not as good in Kerala and West Bengal, compared to what it was 3 years back. The media is hyping for their own reasons that left is contemplating withdrawal of support, and BJP is drooling over the booty, that would ensue.
The press and media can always be on their own since they are only bothered about increasing their viewership, by any method, without anything to loose, since our people are pro sensationalism. On the otherhand BJP is the looser, if again the elections throw another hung parliament, considering their unending problems in Gujarat, Maharashtra, MP, UP, Punjab etc. THe BJP may put up a brave face for the moment, only to bring their cadres together.
furher the people of this country have remained poor for centuries, despite a rich culture. Development on a higher scale is the only way to discard poverty, for which I would say atomic power is a necessity. Beware the leadership of our great country lacked these ideas, hence we have remained poor always. Now I believe the leadership of this country is in able hands. Once she has shown the courage to give up the highest post. She is capable of doing it again and again. opposition beware.

Wow! You say - "Once she has shown the courage to give up the highest post..."
But this is nothing but authority without responsibility. If we really care, only a natural Indian should get to govern. Unfortunately, many Indians, including those in decision making positions in various wings of governance are tuned to slavery.
Congress ensured Quattrochi got an easy exit, his bank a/cs unsealed (and within 24 hours the money was gone).
The remote control governance is no good in democracy. Not many in the cabinet, really respect the authority of the PM. They sing to the tunes of 10, Janpath.
If this is what educated Indians like you think as good for India, then God help us.
