HAS IT NOT BECOME A FASHION TO ALWAYS SHOUT IN SUPPORT OF DEMOCRACY? IF WE LOOK AT THE EXAMPLES LIKE CHINA AND SINGAPORE, A NON-DEMOCRATIC SETUP CAN WORK WONDERS. CHINA WHICH TOOK BIRTH AFTER INDIAN NATION, IS FAR FAR AHEAD OF INDIA AND CHALLENGING THE MOST DEVELOPED NATIONS. THEY HAVE ACHIEVED MORE THAN US IN A NON-DEMOCRATIC SET UP. SAME APPLIES TO SINGAPORE. SO DEMOCRACY IS NOT THE PANACEA FOR ALL ILLS. A MIX OF DEMOCRACY WITH JUDICIOUS CONTROL FROM TOP IS BETTER OPTION FOR COUNTRIES LIKE ASIAN COUNTRIES.

@lotus....this is a big misconception on your part. till last week chinese didnot have had any ownership of property but leased by the govt for 70 years. what about 1 baby norm...will the musalmans of india support that?.....

China may be economically and militarily strong, but are its people happy. We often do not value the things we have and take them for granted ... like the fredom of speech, our right to question the government, freedom of press ... these are things that do not exist in China and did not exist long ago in Soviet Russia. Yes, Soviets were militarily strong but were their people happy?

Get your facts right - Singapore is a democracy. China may be far ahead of India, but not a developed country yet.
I agree, democracy is not everything. But that is far better than being ruled by the army and by anyone who has weapon.

WHAT DO YOU ABOUT CHINA?AS MUCH AS THE PRESS ALLOWED TO WRITE ABOUT THE COUNTRY.THATS IT.SHAAAAME.JSUT BECUASE THERE ARE ROADS AND SKYSCRAPERS THAT WILL NOT MAKE IT THE NEXT USA-HOW IDIOTIC.A COUNTRY IS BUILT ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF HUMAN FREEDOM AND RULE OF LAW.CHINA IS BEHIND INDIA IN THIS.
That US can attack Iraq with supposedly the best intelligence saying that they have weapon of mass destruction. Cannot understand what happen to US intelligence( CIA,FBI etc.) when it comes to catching Osamam Bin Laden who is hiding in Pakistan under the protection of Musharaf.
