Politics in India is concentrated on vote bank, not on national interest,in our country, about 550 MPs, 500 upper House MPs, in State assemblies and upper houses, another 10000 persons, add few defeated ones say 50,000 people are taking 105 crores of people at ransom. A big joke.

Great Story.....do read it

The JDS MLA , MR. ABC from Karnataka was not a happy man. Even the plush comfort of the air-conditioned compartment of the Mysore Express could not cool his frayed nerves. He was the even entitled to first class air travel.

He opened his case and took out the news paper and determined to put the time to some good use.

"Are you in business?" the man beside him was staring appreciatively at the news paper .

%u201CNo I am a Ploiticain, serving the people of this country%u201D MLA replied

"You people have brought so much advancement to the country, Sir. Today everything is getting so easily."

"Thanks," smiled MLA , turning around to give the man a look.

He always found it difficult to resist appreciation. The man was young and well built like a sportsman. He looked simple and strangely out of place in that little lap of luxury like a small town boy in a prep school.

"You people always amaze me," the man continued, "You sit in an office and work very hard to keep the people happy , brining new schemes to the people, you don%u2019t think anything other than people welfare.

MLA smiled deprecatingly. Naiveness demanded reasoning not anger. "It is not as simple as that my friend. It is not just a question of writing a few lines. There is a lot of process/people /money that goes behind it." "It is complex, very complex."

"It has to be. No wonder you people are so highly respected ," came the reply.

"Let me giv

"Let me give you an example. Take this train. The entire railway handled by most intelligent, highly qualified and hardworking minister . You can book a train ticket between any two stations from any of the hundreds of computerized booking centre%u2019s across the country. Thousands of transactions crores of rupees we collect, we make CM, PM, Ministers, we do all the work the most intellent people does in this earth, take example of our state we have government with only 36 MLA%u2019s , we made Deve gowda as our PM>%u2026%u2026

The man was awestruck; quite like a child at a planetarium.

This was something big and beyond his imagination.

"My friend," he concluded triumphantly, "you don't know what it is to be in the Line of Fire".

The man sat back in his chair, his eyes closed as if in realization. When he spoke after sometime, it was with a calm certainty that surprised MLA.

"I know sir, I know what it is to be in the Line of Fire." He was staring blankly, as if no passenger, no train existed, just a vast expanse of time. "There were 30 of us when we were ordered to capture

Point 4875 in the cover of the night. The enemy was firing from the top. There was no knowing where the next bullet was going to come from and for whom. In the morning when we finally hoisted the tricolour at the top only 4 of us were alive."

"You are a...?"

"I am Subedar xyz from the 13 J&K Rifles on duty at Peak 4875 in Kargil. They tell me I have completed my term and can opt for a soft assignment. But, tell me sir, can one give up duty just because it makes life easier. On the dawn of that capture, one of my colleagues lay injured in the snow, open to enemy fire while we were hiding behind a bunker. It was my job to go and fetch that soldier to safety. But my captain sahib refused me permission and went ahead himself. He said that the first pledge he had taken as a Gentleman Cadet was to put the safety and welfare of the nation foremost followed by the safety and welfare of the men he commanded.......his own personal safety came last, always and every time."

"He was killed as he shielded and brought that injured soldier into the bunker. Every morning thereafter, as we stood guard, I could see him taking all those bullets, which were actually meant for me. I know sir....I know, what it is to be in the Line of Fire."

The train slowed down as it pulled into the station, and Subedar Sushant picked up his bags to alight.

"It was nice meeting you sir."

It was the least he felt he could do for the country.

PS: The incident he narrated during the capture of Peak 4875 is a true-life incident during the Kargil war. Capt. sacrificed his life while trying to save one of the men he commanded, as victory was

within sight. For this and various other acts of bravery, he was awarded the Param V

I pity BJP
by srinivas on Oct 04, 2007 06:06 PM  Permalink

Even though power tranfer is done, I suspect govt will not last until next elections. Someday JDS will withdraw support like what Mayawati did for Kalyan singh in UP.
I pity BJP for not forming Govt despite having won major share of seats.

This idiot called Kumaraswamy didnt had problem to remain in CMs seat with BJPs support. If he had that much of a problem with BJP why the hell he dint ask them to leave the govt? Anyway , people knows his oppertunism as he has rightly put down. What else can you expect from him and his father who had found 'relief' in his dhoti on the dias of a public function when he was PM ? That is their level..they are capable enough to degenerate to new lows....

election
by VH on Oct 04, 2007 05:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I saw some messages here and all are seems to be too optimistic on people punishing Gowda family if and when election happen. Unfortunately, if you follow the recent days news, JD-S got highest number of seats in the recent local body elections. This is after knowing how this Gowda family are (take BMIC-Kheny instance, Bangalore metro instance, fight with Congress people, or funny father-son fight 20 months back and how they got together now) and the way they stick to power, money, and name and they can stoop to any level to retain that and think people are donkeys. Karnataka people are really became donkeys (I am a Kannadiga too and I am making this statement after seing the people voted for JD-S again).

Seems I'm pessimistic? Well that may be true but reality made me feel that way.

Well said VH but India is a country which says IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA so when u have money u can buy any thing even if it karnataka or any state. Tell me how many bogus votes u will find if u don't vote some one else has already voted for you and more over the gowda family has mintted the money, land all over the state so it will be easy for them buy the votes rather then election as our beloved CM is telling he is ready for elections as if the money he is going to spend it from his pocket even if he spends he knows how to get it back in a day or two as soon as he comes to power.

well JDS has done a reasonably good job compared to other parties.. this act of not transfering power should be condemned but it does not necessarily take way the credit of JDS activities as praty as a whole! so only ppl voted them! these congress starlwarts dharmasingh and kharge who are teh chief ministerial candidates from cogress are from gulburga district,.. u should visit their constituency to know how pathetic the leadrers are.. that elephant dharm singh did not do anything to his place jevargi even after becoming the CM..

Looks like you are hardcore gowada family follower.
Even Mayawati won 204 seats in UP and Lalu relued bihar for 20 years and Communist ruling west bengal for 20 years. Everybody know all these states are one of the worst states of India.

elections can be win on the basis on money and muscle power.

For your kind information JD(S) got second largets seats and the largest.

Kumaraswamy all this hue and cry is because you have to pass on the seat to someone else. You became Chief Minister for some time frame and now that time is over.

By talking of election, you are putting the innocent citizens of Karnataka under financial burden. Anyways it is hard to preach a politician and that too if they are Gowadas

What a great Father & Son Duo that the people of Karnataka have propped up! Both should be nominated for best dramabaz in the next National Cinema Award!!! Anyway the intelligent people of Karnataka will teach this duo a lesson they will never forget in their life.

Hey, don't misunderstand me. I am not a BJP sympathizer by any count. But, as an average citizen of this country I believe in values in every sphere of life including politics. Power will come and go. But politician should not stooge so low that they will fell ashamed in LOOKING THEMSELVES IN THE MIRROR WHEN THEY GET UP NEXT MORNING!!!!!!!

Both, father and son should be sent to primary school. Their behaviour will be proper at that place only. Rest, the people of Karnataka will decide.
