Ridiculous

I am suprised to see framing of words in last para. What I saw and heard from TV news channels and other media is, local (village) shops closed down half the day to mark respect for Vijayan

I beleive this is a practice anywhere in the ocuntry to close down the shops in the area and erect black flags

Al ldepends on how you frame the words while writing the article

Strike as a mark of respect!

I took a double take as I read the last para.

Though I can claim to know the thinking behind these marxist leaders, what flummoxes me is the absolute disregard to see the reality.

The world has moved on. China & Vietnam are desparate to catch up on time lost. Russia & Eastern Europe, ditto. North Korea will soon join South and get some free rides in the bargain.

The basic lesson is there is no free lunch. The communists were relevant at one time, but not now. If nobody works, there is no wealth and all can share in misery. Unless one is a sadist, all will be unhappy.

At its worst, Keralites left in lakhs for a sqare meal a day. All companies, even govt owned, closed one after the other. There is ziltch hope of many ever running again. Nobody wants to take even a second look.

What a contrast between our leftists and that of their mentors in China. They do not want to emulate the latter now, the only reason being, unwilling to get out out of the rut. Plain laziness! They still believe wearing singlets and appearing in TV make them popular. Can they ever think of the future to improve the lots of the common man?

It is time for a new thinking. I salute MNV for his sacrifices. Now it is time to move on. The last para really did not give me much hope. Whoever called for the strike can please rethink, one has still to eat and there are no free lunches. Many work to provide you these, when you strike and it is an insult to all including MNV.

Very sensible and true to the core. These communists will never come out of their shell and will keep on hanging to their obsolete principles without compromise. When the country is to be on fast track, they slog. It is so pathetic to see the rikshaw pullers of Kolkata unable to stand even. What image do we carry to the world ?

As regards Kerala, it is God's own country by its natural beauty and ruled and inhabited more by devils.

What do communists believe in? General strikes only. General strike before noon as a mark of respect to the departed soul. What kind of strike do they observe when some body is born. They are a filthy lot in Indian society
