Firoz (khan) adapted Gandhi Surname at the behest of Mahatma and yes he was a muslim , his father was a Fruit Vendor and was a MUslim married to a Parsi lady. They used to supply fruits etc to Anand Bhavan.

Reddys are actually from North India ... They are referred to as Raddiwala in the north ... when they moved to andhra ... they got this weird accent and changed their name to reddywala which then slowly got reduced to reddy

There is a solution.The family can add a disclaimer each time they use the Gandhi surname-Not related to Mahatma.
Feroze Gandhi was alive till a few decades ago.He was a Parliamentarian and had good credentials.So it won't be impossible to get details about his surname before he married Indira Gandhi in the 1940s,I guess.Can Right to Information facility be used.To my knowledge he was a Parsee man,atleast his father.Don't know if they have Gandhi as surname.Maybe some oldtimers can help settle this Gandhi-Ganddi-Khan issue forever.There would have been newspaper reports when Indira got married and some people would have saved them.Even newpaper offices can enlighten us.

Feroz was not a Parsi. His mother was a Parsi before she married and converted to Islam. apart from taking the name Gandhi, Feroze called himself a Parsi for political reasons. In Fact Mahatma Gandhi asked him to use his mother's last name which is not Gandhi but is similar. It is all part of the greater Fraud.
Though I like Sonia and her family her Ram Setu comment was not in good taste. If she was advised by someone then it's wrong and she should have got a second opinion.
I believe Sonia Gandhi is good lady who atleast tries to keep the country together and always thinks of leading the country into expansion and good times.

You are an uninformed idiot. Feroze's real last name was "Khan". He was a muslim, not a Parsi. His grandmother was a parsi and her last name was Ghandi... That old lady was muslim after her marriage to the muslim Feroze's grandfather.
Secondly, Feroze & Indira got secretly married in a Mosque in London.... Feroze was Indira's boy friend and he was her sexual / emotional support when Jawaharlal Nehru was unleashing his Lust on the young girls of the country he was ruling. Nehru didn't like it when Indira married Feroze and Gandhiji came to the rescue.... he gave his last name to Feroze to make him "not look muslim".
