History is like this: In 7th, Dec,1941, Japanese army made a sneak-raid to Pearl Harbor. The pacific war broke. Before this, China had already engaged in war with Japan for four years. Since 1942, US, USSR, China, UK became allies in World War II. Gen. Stilwell was then a general of Ally army in East Asia theater commanding US, and was also a nominal leader of Chinese Army. Chiang Kai Shek, President of China(then Republic of China), was a real leader of Chinese army. In order to break Japanese block to China and got military provision from US. China military government mobilized 500,000 labourers to build this road in months. To show friendship to America, Chiang Kai Shek ordered to name the road as Stilwell Road.

the teritory from which road passes are green hills, produces about 60% of tea/coffee..and india exports to earn $$...if we reopens this road...pollution and other things will destroy this. this road is in benefit of China and myanmar...and not of india. Indian Govt should consider all points before re-opening this road

Nice road. Public should get access to it. Tourism Dept. to look into it.
