N Deal
by keshav kumar on Oct 01, 2007 08:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

PM has gone for a deal that is giving India nothing while US gets control on our Nuke capablity of our defence. We are surrounded by very hostile neighbourhood and hence we need a very strong defence capablity. This deal is thus totally harmful to our defence capabllity and hence needs to be rejected. That it will help Electric power generation is absolute rubbish and nonsense. It is shameful fooling ploy.

keshav kumar , Would like China as our Nuclear partner? Your statement clearly comes out anti-US sentiments. Biggest threat is China. A country like India need strong friends and allies. And above all India is a Democratic nation unlike Pak and China. Your Communist mentality is not going to help India's progress.

That will be the day when the Left reaches a consensus
by Brian Antao on Oct 01, 2007 08:09 PM  Permalink

That will be the day when the Left will be won over and reach a consensus on the Nuclear deal. The Left has to realize that their position of opposing development and progress and taking anti-government positions will not win them much favor with the voters for a long time. This country cannot thrive on thier socialist mantra, India is a vibrant democracy and capitalism is what will drive the economy forward. The Left has to take this point of time to do some bit of soul searching and give up their hardline position. They should also realize that the Nuclear deal is not all about selling the country to the US and forget about all their anti-US rhetoric. It is time for the Left to appreciate all the merits of the Nuclear deal and what it has in store for the Indian economy down the line for the future generations as well as in terms of the country's infrastructure needs in the power sector. It is time for the Left to also realize that such hardline positions at this juncture will not sit very well in favor of them with the voters. As the performance and the posturing of the Left has come out and been well known by now. Most sensible people should be thinking twice as to why they have been voting for these Left candidates, and would seriously thinking in terms of voting in with one of the mainstream parties such as the Congress party and give it the absolute majority so that it can run the government with a clear dictat.

It will be good if operationalising of the deal is put on hold until UPA and Left resolve their differences in the long term interest of the Nation.
