The author has given a logical, quantifiable and Black & White analysis of the Sethu Samudram project. We can clearly conclude that this project is,
- NOT in the interest of the Shipping Industries - NOT profitable for the Sethu project authoriies - NOT supported and appreciated by Historians and Archeologists, who excavate and explore the millions of years old Sethu Bridge or Adam's bridge(as NASA calls it). - NOT in the benefit of the social harmony of the country, which has srong protestive opinions on the demolition of Ramar Sethu's bridge.
Looking into all these points...why go ahead with this commercially non-viable, totally uninteresting and socially/religiosly controversial Sethu Samudram project?
The write up by Capt. Balakrishnan is enlightening, a professional's analysis on the viability of the project. It is hard to understand why Karunanidhi, TR Balu and thier ilks are vehemently supporting this project. As the writer has rightly said it would have been viable 100 years ago but not now as the ships' size, capacity, volume etc. have increased many fold. It is sad that men in power have neither vision nor commitment towards the nation or the people. Now it is clear that Sethu Samudram is another Cooum of Chennai. 1967 DMK came to power citing Cooum as their pet project, promising to convert Cooum a recreational resort, spent (?) crores of rupees. Alas, today , after 40 years it stinks more than ever. As an Indian and Tamil I also want a prosperous state but unfortunately we have been misruled by the Dravidian leaders (?) for the last 40 years. His remark whether Lord Rama was an engineer to build Ramar Sethu shows how low he could think! Can India (Tamil Nadu) be saved from these greedy and selfish politicians? I feel the Press and Media have a major role to play.
