ULCA is Urban Land Ceiling Act. The removal of the Act will free up a lot of land in Mumbai city for housing purposes. But, most likely, it will be the big builders who will benefit the most.

You mean to say the land which is already been acquired by the Government will be released

As I understand, Maharashtra govt has already acquired some of the land and is in the process of acquiring more. All of that will be auctioned off, possibly with some guidelines on the winning bidders utilising a certain portion of the land for low-cost housing. It is easier said than done, though

wahat ever you ppl have stated it right but there is one more imp part attached to it. this stategic move would give power to this goverment to take over any vacunt land which is not utilised and have been lying like that from years. they have said that they would probably not acquire any such land if there is any dispute going on about its ownership, but apparently this whole move is giving an intimation that probably such lands also would be fall into governments hands some or other way. moral of the story is, prices will fo up more firmly and future would be an ice-candy for big real estate houses. government has also mentioned that this purticular move is made for betterment of the people, as they will be freeing up good amount of land for poor or middle class people housing projects but this could be just a disguise they want to give us to eat the fruit without being noticed.
