The company should pay because they earns in crores (from us) and pay peanuts in return. when we can work for the company day and night when the company needs, why can't they pay when we need. After all it's a human requirement to raise a family. why do you want pension from the company after you retire??
Your mentality shows that you don't want women to get maternity leaves so now if your wife gets pregnant, pay from your pocket or ask her to do the same thing( leave without payment) LWP
You are a real MCP( male chauvinist P!g....)

Good - this trend indicates that Indians will become richer, at the same time the population will also go down.

We Indians are most greediest people in the world!
by poolu on Nov 27, 2007 03:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is not at all a problem if we don't go behind money. When compare to other industry IT is paying very well, what is the need to double it?

Give up your love for money! Start a family!

We can't compare India with less populated and broad minded countries

Indian employers are narrow minded people and poor in policy making, again Indian companies are greediest companies in the world. They never use common sense.

It may take another 200 years or more for India to develop

right u are there..indian co.s want to earn money and they give better opportunities than perhap other employment options in India but still they are miles behind the facilities of western co.s..but nobody will say a word because india is still a poor country (1% IT people of total population earning more than 25k a month does not reflect the real picture)
and co.s exploit humanity at the name of better salary....IT guys in general hail from middleclass families, their sole dream is to secure future so they want to earn money at any cost, never bother about present situation, so it becomes very easy for co.s to use this mentality to their benefits....on top all these co.s have policies of firing if somebody demands anything in group , reckoned as doing groupism , so who will bell the cat ??

Mr POOLU,
It is not easy to do business in india. They have to face and satisfy sales tax ,income tax, competition in the market etc.You are not right in commenting that indian employers have narrow outlook

This is bullshit

By rule of law min 3 months Maternity is guaranteed, I dont understand how any company can give 1 month leave.! Infact paternity leave is a concern, i think 1 month paternity leave should also be considered.

Yes to my knowledge no company gives maternity leave for less than 3 months. If at all there are a few companies, which do so it should be taken care of & one can move out of such company if at all, the concerned couple is really interested in starting a family. All these are lame excuses. Attrition is nothing new to IT industry that too when you have a genuine reason you can justify after a gap.

Yes agreed there are certain commitments that are based on the total income of the family so leaving the job to raise the family may not be justified but while jumping from one job to other just to get a better salary should not be done rather such aspects should also be taken care of when one plans to raise a family as well.

You are right. As far as i heard and knew,Maternity leave is 3 months with salary.
This is basic labour law in india.Rediff as always did not get facts correct.
Coming to raising a family, you need to sacrifice if you need money.Basically indian society mostly has house wife and working husband.Things worked fantastically in our previous generation not only because of low life style but also due to less material pleasure(We don't have many electrical gadgets, lavish life style and etc). But because of this booming economy,These problems cropped up.

There is a law in India for manadatory 3 months maternity leave. No company worth its salt can do this stupidity. I am sure Rediff needs better researchers.

Read this for better understanding

Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 says that
Google it to read the details.
I hope Rediff is better informed next time. I am not sure why this message was removed for abuse alert
