Before trying to start a debate on rationalism, social justice, evil brahmins etc, remember that Karunanidhi is 100 times worse than Taslima and that he has made whole state of TN a private property of his family members. His concern for Social justice is a joke, his whole party is now made property of his family, Karuna is the worst Manuvadi in whole of India.
Yet while some Muslim leaders are condemning taslima, they are silent about the Evil Karuna. They should change their views and oppose Karuna and his family business in equal measure
Subhas Chakraborty needs to be praised for his stand. It requires a great courage to even say they he is ready to keep Taslima in his house when other ministers are keeping mum and a few asking Taslima to leave Bengal. Apart from courage, Subhas has also given importance to humanity. When Dalai Lama can stay in India lifelong, why can't Taslima. The Indian government should not bow to its extremist vote bank and should grant her permanent asylum.

In Kerala, Christian Politician like K.M. Mani, Some of Christian Fathers and Bishops, Congress leaders like Ramesh Chennithala, Opposition leader Oommen Chandi, RSS etc. with the support of media are joined under an umbrella to oppose the Left Front government.
In West Bengal, all the communal leaders of Muslim League, SIMI, Jamaat-e-Islami, BUPC, RSS & BJP, Congress, Maoists, SUCI, CPI(ML) with the help of media are trying to eliminate the Left base.

Jawaharlal Nehru rightly said - The two greatest threats to Republican India are Communalism and Communism. You (sahadevan) represent the lattera nd you are a threat to the indepependent sovereign character of Republic of India.

I have a simple solution for Taslima . Let her stay in Gujrat , the most safest place for her in India. Leave attacking her, not a single muslim will have the guts to raise their voice against ger in Gujrat .

You are correct. Modi's administration can protect taslima and nobody would have guts to raise voice against him. Modi is so efficient so today gujarat muslim support him for anything. In ahmedabad muslim dominent area muslim are giving vote to BJP only and not in fear but they know where is the prosperity. This is the modi charishma. The great leader of our time.
One can join islam but cant leave it - well its not Mullah dictated islam alone even hindusim as is still practiced in rural India too is inhumane. The only way India/world can progress is kick out all religious fundamentalism and keep the good scientific goodies from each. Do you know how to kick out all the religions - just ignore.
Taslima Nussren is most likely the descendent of one of the millions of Hindu converts to Islam by force or fear of being killed. Hindu women were raped and many had their breast cut off by Pakistani rangers. Her writing is testimony of the pain all of these Hindus in Bangladesh witnessed after 1947 till its independence in 1971 from the Pakistani Rangers, who picked and slaughtered millions of Hindus in Bangladesh. This was genocide. Hope one day they will get justice, just as the Christian Armenians have started to gather support of US Congress and other international agencies against the Islamic Turkish rule, when it slaughtered millions of such Armenians, many of whom escaped to other countries including Kolkata,India. I know many such in Kolkata.
Taslima is a lone lady who had the courage to bring out the medieval bloodily culture in Islam which is responsible for taking innocent blood till today even though its followers are barely 900 million [Arabs are only 250 million, of which about 40 million are Christian; count the other countries where Islam is followed. There is lot of made up numbers]

Sunny, you are right! Taslima's novel 'Lajya' means 'shame'. She writes in the novel that she is ashamed of Islam for the brutality against Hindu women done in the name of Islam. She exposes the atrocities committed in the name of Islam.
She should be given the highest honor for bringing out the truth! Nobel price in literature!
Islam is a religion of violence. Peace and Islam cannot exist together.
