RE:another letter to our Muslim countrymen.
by ashish sinha on Nov 24, 2007 06:26 AM  Permalink
its sad yaar... we have had respectable Muslims Leaders in our country. maulana Abdul kalam Azad and in recent times our former president Dr kalam.

they r so respectful. Look at what farooq Abdullah said ni the national assembly. "As a muslim I am hurt, as an Indian I must protect taslima"

thats the sort of statement and the kind of people that makes me feel that still we may try.

all is not lost to the unholy mullahs..i feel

open letter to my muslim countrymen

pls protect taslima nasreen. Its very un-indian to not to help any body in need.
pls defeat all radical mullahs by voicing your opinion is support for her.

if you are tolerant, you will gain a lot of respect. reacting extraordinarily to every small issue only makes your religion look humorous.

now i fear, i may also be termed anti-muslim, hindu fundamnetalist and what not !

thats not the way to go.

drink some Limca, take it easy.

Taslima, The BJP and Indian Citizenship

The voice of the Muslims of India also must be heard. Therefore Taslima should not be given Indian citizenship.

dear ayesha zaki,

i am not looking at taslima as anti islamist, I look at her as a woman who will be killed if not protected. I am not sure if our muslim country men can take the responsibility of protecting her.

so I am all for state protection. She put faith in us and asked us for help, and its very "un-indian" to not help any body in need. We have helped even the worst of our enemies in times of need, be it bangladesh or pakistan.

as far as hurting muslim sentiments is concerned, please help me understand that why does the muslim community react in such a dis-proportionate way. Com'on, she was just vaguely stating for reforms for women in her novel.

why does this have to hurt any body. I mean is Islam so fragile that one woman can shake it?

what r you guys doing. please show some compassion and love for her. Love is more powerful than hatred.

peace to all indian muslims.

Ashish Sinha,
Yes Muslim sentiments have been hurt, and if this woman is a reformer, this reformer needs to go back to her own society from where she can more effectively carry on her own reforms! And why do you assume that 'Muslim country men' as you so patronizingly call the Muslim men will even take the responsibility of protecting her? As far as the 'why does this have to hurt anybody' goes, the violent protests that have accompanied this lady wherever she goes in India show clearly that sentiment have been hurt and how!

Hello Ayesha,

as far as I know she comes from the muslim society in bagladesh. I pity the bangladesh society for being inflammed by a single woman. And all these years I felt proud that Indian Muslims are much matured than their bangladeshi counterparts, coz taslima has lived in our country for so long.

And voilent protest is not a measure of how badly sentiments have been hurt. Its just a mater for Radical muslims to prove to the world their place in the society.

those trouble makers need to realize that they do not need to raise their voice to show their presence, they already are a part and parcel of society and they should work to make it more resilient and matured and all inclusive.

I would love to see a muslim group handling the remarks made by her in a matured manner. that would win so much respect, I cant even imagine.

do u still have questions Ayesha ?

Yes we are very mature and resilient! What we cannot understand is why is this troublemaker still in our country? And what you need to understand is that we have shed our blood for protecting our great country and we do not have to learn nationalism from people who are in truth dividing our country in the name of religion!

hello ayesha,

i see that you r very disturbed. pls introspect... taslima is not the trouble maker, she has been living with us for so many years.

the trouble makers r the mad people who jammed calcutta and rioted on streets.

yes ayesha, they r the trouble makers.

now look taslima doesn't even say anything a single , unarmed, unmarried lady... oh my god..

pls protect her ..

Ayesha, its strange that the worlds biggest and most peaceful religion is afraid of one single unarmed Lady and its supporters are making all efforts to throw her out.

Is this the strength of Islam ?

RE:Muslim women
by ayesha zaki on Nov 24, 2007 05:47 AM  Permalink
Muslim women voluntarily cover themselves up. We have a right to do so. 'Black dirty cloths' indeed! A burqa serves as protection for the women from prying eyes. If Taslima is such a great lady, this great lady should go back to her own country!

Satpath,
Muslims ruled India for 1000 years. In 1947 when partition took place 25% became Pakistan and 75 % became what is India today.

Do you really think that if Islam was spread by force there would be only 25% Muslims in India ?

Think about it...

She definitely should NOT be given Indian citizenship. People like her should just convert to another religion instead of having a Muslim name, which they bring disrepute to. The Muslims of India are totally against this woman, so just let her go wherever she wants, instead of further dividing Indians along religious lines. As for the BJP,RSS,VHP of course, Muslim sensibilities mean nothing to them or to people of their ilk. Let THEM go to HELL!
