What Taslima is doing is called "Freedom of Speech" and What M.F. Husain is doing is called "hate against one's religion" Right? Double standards hah!

Don't compare Taslima & Hussain. Compare Taslima with somebody like Teesta Stelvad who is working for the ppl affected by Guj. riots. Teesta can freely roam around in the country, and doesn't get hounded. And so do all the 'secular' writers who continue to write reams and reams of articles/books/journals about Guj. riots. They all roam around freely.

let here change her religion and be a public property and serve the forigniers. why do u feel pity on bangalies . This shows your double standard
Secularism........?? freedom........?? Responsibility towatds others.......?? Respect for other faiths........??? blasphemy......??
whether... Unnecessary sarcastic/cartoon type/badmouthing and ill language against others' leaders/gurus .... is justified.
Don't you beat your kid... when he/she badmouths some body elderly unnecessarily????
Don't we protest against this Madman 'modern' Artist (Hussain) for his nude arts of respected figures.......... If he is free to portray his wife/daughters nude for his evil/artistic satisfaction....... does it mean he can portray anybody?????????

I aboslutely agree with what you have said. But how come even without reading her book people are passing judgements ? did she said anything against religion or she only said against the orthodox society ?
Taslima's only crime was that she questioned the way Islam treats women. There are enough intellectuals everywhere questioning the same of other religions.
Rajaram Mohan roy reformed Hindu religion, by questioning its practicies like Sati, Child Marriage etc. Ambedkar questioned the very basis of Hindu religion and the caste system.
If they were not offending and reformists, then why does so many secularists think Taslima is wrong in calling for the same??
brother... you know??? Hitler did not have the last laugh.... neither timoor nor Changeez????? nor Savarkar.....nor Brits.... nor Godse.... nor BJP?????
I read her books and I have not found a single word that can be termed anti Islam. Like any other religion half read or illiterates dominate the Muslim religious institutions that issues fatwas to exploit the people of same religion. These people insult women who are their mothers, sisters or even their wives. Taslima only exposed these greedy people to educate the massess.

go back to Bangladesh. despite living and learning civilization, your core set of values portray a loyalty to medeival Arab tribal knowledge or rather the lack of it. Check the Quran again and ensure you know how it asks you to speak about women.

It's a black spot on WB Govt's image that Taslima has to leave Kolkata, or rather she's forced to leave. But the good thing is people from various fields of the city have protested against the treatment meted out to her, in the same way as protest-rallies were brought out in condemnation of the Rizwanur incident and the Nandigram issue. Kolkata abhors communalism, and this time too people of Kolkata will suceed, in spite of the failure of the state govt. But Taslima is a weak writer, and all these foolish people are in fact giving publicity to her. She should just be ignored.
