We are in the 21st Century - all forums involving Indians and Pakistanis are involved in insulting each others religion. Nothing fruitful. Can't we all belong to different faiths and still hold a healthy discussion and be respectful - because ironical though it might be - that is the quintessential part of being an Indian (including Pakistan). Very easy to throw mud and insults around.

well said, the people must show some sort of self respect. only healthy critisism should be allowed by the rediff.
This is a baseless argument. In India, most of the Muslims we see are converts from Hindu...possibly you and your Family might be an exception. That religion was not originated in India. They were the intruders. Islam destroyed much of the Indus civilization. I understand that they were more powerful but you should also realize that Power comes with atrocities. As a matter of fact most of them were barbaric and atrocious. Some of them were decent and did much to value others religion. I would mention Akbar the great in this category. During British-India, British did enough to unsettle the relation between Hindus and Muslims because of their vested interests. But at the same time I should also mention that oil and water can not mix by their nature. So we had partition that was solely based on Religion. In India, it was the greatness of Hindus that wanted to stay as secular instead of being the Hindu country. When India freed Bangladesh, it was initially secular minded but eventually turned into a Muslim country. That was definitely not the greatness of Musim Bangladesis but an unfortunate act of Islam. Islam can not accept any other religion than its own. See you guys dont even sing Vandematarm! Because of Islams nature, it has transformed Human being to Zehadis. Reason is one and only one-unilateralism and stubbornness. You guys day dream that one day World will be yours! Islam can not accept others. Over the last few days, I have come across several post that seem to blatantly suggest that Islam was spread with the sword.
I would like to take exception to this assumption. There have been Muslim Rulers and Muslim Invaders just like any other King or Empire. But to say that Islam was spread with a sword is a stretch.
I have a few examples.
1. Egypt - Egypt has been under Muslim Rule for the last 1400 years. Even today, you can find 14 Million Christians in Egypt. If Islam was spead by force, where did these 14 Million (15% of Population)Coptic Christians come from ? Source: Wikipedia.com
2. Spain - Spain was ruled by the Muslims for 800 years before they were driven out. If Islam was spread by sword, do you think that in 800 years, there would be any Non-Muslim in Spain ?
3. India - India was ruled by the Muslims for over 1000 years. But when the greater India was partitioned in 1947, 25% became Pakistan and 75% is what is India today. Think about it, if Islam was spread by sword, don't you think that in a 1000 years there would be more than 25% Muslims ?
4. Indonesia %u2013 Indonesia is the most populous Muslim Country. Which Islamic Army marched unto the shores of Indonesia ?
5. Nigeria %u2013 Islam is one of the 3 prominent religions in Nigeria. Which Muslim Army marched into Nigeria to spread Islam.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF ISLAM is that Muslims are ILLITERATE & therefore IGNORANT leading to ARROGANCE.The so called Secular..sic people (who love Muslim votes)should revolutionise the education system of Muslims, shifting them from Madrasa to Modern education. If Imran loves his Islam then he should take some initiative in this regard. PLEASE DON'T INDULGE IN TALKS WHICH COMPOUND THE PROBLEMS IN ISLAM, TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS IN ISLAM.

These are baseless allegation. Allah says in the Holy Quran that There is no compulsion in Islam. With some of my %u201CMis-Guided%u201D fellow Muslim brothers, who are using violence, it is convenient for all non-Muslims to label Muslims are violent and also make the assertion that Islam was spread by sword.
This is a totally Baseless allegation, refuted by Historic facts.

Your misunderstood. Our holy prophet Mohammed (PBUH) fought with jews thos who breach the agreement and rebles who lived under agreement. I hope is this correct for any ruler or adminstrater
all those organisation indulging in killing looting and smashing private &govt property should put behind bar and all incurred losses should be recovered from them,,they should not be allowed to contest election and all money should be recover from them,,,not religion, caste region should be allow in politics,, we need presidential forms of govt like u.s ,,, parliamentary democracy creating divide in country and making political process getting manipulated by soclled anti- social elements,,

whole parties those holding any meeting protest should be videotapped recorded and justice should not take time,,,no one have right to put on fire ,kill innocent people,,,,lets all indian support , otherwise, gujrat riot can spread to all india,, innocent children, women will worse sufferer it is right time to wake up and get ready to challenge the fanatic elements in every society
