Classic example of appropriating hindu backlash with mindless violence by secular extremists and communists. This is the same tactic being used by neoliberals in India to cover-up hindu suffering. There was a precedent in Gujarat. Horrific burning of women and children in train which is still not acknoledged by secularists. Organised hindu anger cannot be compared to violence by communists and minority fundamentalists without any precedent. What is the precedent for killing 60000 hindus and driving ethnic cleansing of 3.5 lac hindus from Kashmir. What was the precedeny for killing a million hindus during partitioning by great warriors of Jinnah aided and abetted by Nuhruvian fundamentalists who are again aiding Communists in Nandigram. Great italian lady is sermonising on secularism in New Delhi while her friends are on killing spree in nandigram. Worse, she is lecturing on Gandhi whi was giving semilar lectures on secularism to Hindus while they were being butchered by Islamic fundamentalists in India and Pakistan. Secularists have yet to express remorse for ethnic cleansing in Kashmir, partitioning of the country and killing a million hindus, over 1500 riots in India between 1969 to 1989, for their tacit support to minority fundamentalists involved in terror attacks on hindus, genocide in Bihar by Lallus and great massacre of sikhs in New Delhi. Hindua have never acted but reacted to extremists. Time has come to fight a street battle with secularists and intellectual f
But it is a fact that Maoists who are notorious for killing policemen and government officials and cannot be tackled by even the paramilitary forces, got a first taste of defeat in the hands of CPIM cadres, who taught them a good lession in Nandigram. And for this, the Maoists have declared war on CPIM now.
It was Maoist intervention and taking seize of Nandigram that prompted CPIM to take its own course of action on which the police might have failed or resulted in more bloodshed than it happened.

Good story!!! But falls apart. Cadres are more efficient in fighting than our Forces!! In that case, is it not a burden to pay for these forces? Please sack all these useless Police/CRPF and Army and hire the CPIM Goondas!!! How ridiculous!! After capturing Nandigram, why CRPF/Media were not allowed in there, to frame up the Maoist story? To plant some mines or dump some arms here and there as an exhibition? Please tell these cock and bull stories to small kids. They will get entertained.
I feel very sorry for those who treat the subject/debate subjective rather than to be objective.Nevertheless,I pity for the awareness of persons patronising the column!!!
BJP is so hungry for power that one feels sorry for them. Having tasted power once they just cannot wait to get back. All their predictions of mid-term elections since 2004 when they lost the election have come to naught. They will be well advised to change course, give up communalism, break their relations with the RSS, Shiv Sena and VHP, think in terms of nation's good and support the Govt on issues that are worthy of support and not oppose for the sake of opposition. Opposition party in a democracy is meant to be a watch dog and not a compulsive opponent to oppose anything and everything that the Govt does.BJP should learn from the western countries from whom we have copied the system of parliamentary democracy.. India badly needs a good, efficient and disciplined opposition party and the BJP can fulfil; that role if they have the wisdom and will to do so otherwise they can sulk and make stupid statements like some of their leaders do and stay in wilderness..

YOU GUYS ARE MISSING THE POINT, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICAL PARTIES. YOU ARE CARRIED AWAY AND FIGHTING WRONG BATTLE.
HERE IS ROOT CAUSE FOR HINDU MUSLIM CONFLICT WHICH WAS NEVER ADDRESSED BY ANYONE I KNOW.
Now the tension between MUSLIM and HINDUS occur not because of Politicians, but the way they LIVE-IN SECLUDED CLUSTERS and not MIXING with others SOCIALLY NEED TO WORK ON THIS.
Otherwise there will be always someone taking advantage of this Weakness of INDIAN MUSLIM. So far I know in GUJARAT, MUSLIM community always band to gether in slum type housings, where Interaction with others in day to day becomes very limited,
This is What Creates Bridding Ground for antagonist attitudes, So why can't we tackle THE ROOT CAUSE. REST WILL BE SOLVED.
THIS HAS TO BE SOLVED,BY BRINGING SOME BASIC FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE IN WHY WE DONOT INTERACT EFFACTIVELY IN DAY TO DAY LIFE.

Mr. Mukherjee, kindly recall that when BJP was in Power the Party of Sonia's Chamchas behaved in the most irresponsible way. Sonia even supported Pakistan against India during Kargil if you remember.Do you expect chivelry from BJP?

Right. The communists , all of them , in the garb of intellect have done disservice to the nation , their approach is totally anti national and pro china -- for example -- during china war , Nandigram , Nuclear deal . This congress has used all this to their advantage to remain in power -- by hard bargaining with communists. Look how they have bargained with Nandigram and Nuc deal , Mr K J Rao was not allowed to supervise elections in Bengal -- Everywhere -- Right since we can think of --Congress and Communists have worked together for Power and driving the nation backward. It is high time to throw these parties out of power for ever.

I am from west bengal. When the communist came to power i was only 8 yrs old. Have heard of naxals and atrocities committed during congress rule. But i don't know whether this commies are anyway better or not.Since last 30 yrs our condition has become such that to prove our development we have to compare our states with bihar, orissa and u.p.They won't dare to compare themselves with maharastra, gujrat, delhi, tamilnadu, karnataka ,andhrapradest in devepolment parameters. Now this communists are talking about industrialisation but there there was a time when because of the high handed attitude of left affiliated unions industrialists did't dare to venture in west bengal.Even 15 yrs back we have witnessed their strong opposition to computerisation .Now after Buddhadeb assuming power we have witnessed a slightly better situation in a sence now the locals are finding it easier to get into engineering colleges and getting jobs in sevice sectors which was not the case 6-7 yrs back.He is desperatly trying to attract investments. His intention is honest but modus operandi is bit flawed . Old habbits die hard .Mr Sumit Bhattachayya has rightly depicted the true picture of rural bengal. So long you have an opposition leader like mamata you can be rest assured that cpm is here to stay for another 30 yrs.She is the best life insurance policy of cpm. Pray that this communists don't spread their tentacles beyond their regional boundary else the nation will be doomed
what happened at Nandigarm it is similar to Gujrat riot.Only difference Gujrat riot was communal lead by Modi but Nandigram was political lead by CPM.So why we will proud of our culture.Shame CPM and Mr Buddha. Some of our so called intellectuals support CPM because of having some facilities provided by Buddha babu. They are not BUDDHIJIBI but BUDDHODIBI.
Communists showing they are the real peoples who cares poor peoples, same way Vrinda Karat showing when Ramdev Baba controversary they raised. But where is they now, doing very wrong things creting voilence to force farmers to leave their precious land. They are need to trown out of entire state. these peoples are only bleming others and when blame come on them they sating it is state issue. Congress doesn't have courage to ask them about Nangigram.
So Everybody is saying Communists shame on you and don't pinpoint on Modi as he having all gujarti's faith. Communists you doesn't have any faith of Muslim community as everybody wan't their vote share.
