Smoking Vs Pollution
by Arun on Nov 14, 2007 11:19 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I accept the passive smokers are get affected, it should be the basic discipline for the smokers to not make the non-smokers suffer.
Passive smoking, i think it is not too dangerous when compared to the pollution. Whoever (non-smokers) claming that they are sufferring because of public smoking, first check how much you pollute the air with your 2 wheelers and 4 wheerlers, the amount of air condition machines you use, the amount of plastic waste you throw away, etc.. these are more dangerous to the world than some body somking in public. Have self-discipline before advicing others.

Just say you are for or against smoking. You can call for other ministries to follow this in their respective areas instead. Let us not distract ourselves from the core subject.

SRK vs minister
by SK on Nov 14, 2007 10:32 AM  Permalink

I agree with SRK. There are much bigger health risks that the society is exposed to, than smoking.

The lack of hygiene and proper planning in cities are making them breeding grounds for all sorts of deadly diseases.

Our environs are getting more and more polluted with each passing day - inducing various illnesses and pushing public health indices to never-before-seen depths.

Why is the revered minister not talking about these? You earn publicity only if you take on the demi-gods of silver screen.

Appeal to Dr.Ramdoss to address organ trading in Tamilnadu
by suresh k on Nov 14, 2007 08:59 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dr.Ramdoss - it would be good if you can address the organ trading with sunami victims in Tamilnadu first. It has become a fashion for tamilnadu politicians to go after filmstars to gain publicity. You denied signing student certificates because of ego problems and you are still continuing as a minister.

As such this health minister is a quarrelsome fellow. After his battle with the Venugopal, he just started with SRK. There are other areas which need his attention with priority. do not run after srk or vengopal as a source of publicity stunt. This is only a futile exercise.

Penny Wise Pound Foolish

Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss may be an ardent monitor of peoples'health and hygeine, but has no rudimetary sense of artistic imagination and beauty. If he was to be in some other ministry and supervise the cinema and other visuals, and if he considered that weapons like killing knife and other ammunitions lethal, he would impose rules that no such impliments to be used. Thereafter, we may possibly see villians approaching the scene with roses and flowers!

ramadoss is a hypocrate
by Suvendu Huddar on Nov 14, 2007 08:21 AM  Permalink

If ramadoss is so worried about the health of Indians then let the Indian Govt. just ban the production of tobacco and its products, which will never happen as it gives the govt. a lot of revenue in sales tax etc.

This means smoking is not banned, it is legal but actors cant do it as ppl watch them.

IF ppl follow actors smoking, stop the production of tobacco products so there will be no smoking.

NO FIRE NO SMOKE.....

Smoking
by Sheetal Kaur on Nov 14, 2007 04:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In India it does not matter if one smokes or not,
it is a known fact that smoking causes cancer of the lungs and throat, then why worry about smokers it is there life beside that it is they who are going to pay for there treatment no one else.
yes it matters in U.K. and Europe where the taxpayers have to foot the bill for ones health through National Health Contributions. Yes it matters here, why should some who has inflicted the sickness on them self be treated by some one else's contributions thats why smoking is being banned in all work places pubs and clubs and other public places.
In India one can smoke to his/hers hearts content and die it will make no difference.
There fore smokers ignore all smoke 100 a day and good luck to you all. It is your body your health and your money.
You can suffer as much or as little no one cares. but don't blow your dirty smoke on us non smokers. We like a drink a whisky or beer may be how would you feel if we urinated on your head after all that is the by product of drinking just like smoke you exhale.

BAN TOBACCO AND LIQUOR AND USE THOSE FUNDS ON AIDS AND TB ERADICATION
by Kabeer on Nov 14, 2007 12:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Ramdoss who dont believe in Ram!,
First ban production of tobacco products and use that land for cultivating other cash crops. Tobacco cultivation saps potential from the land like no other cash or other crop can do. And earmark those funds for cancer for rehabilitating the tobacco based workers into other industries. Do the same thing for liquor too! Nothing to be ashamed about it. Your country has the largest TB patients and potentially becoming the largest AIDS infected nation. What is better to fight against? Stop those diseases that you can do with a simple legislation and stop those which require medicines and care which actually is more difficult. Spend your energies on that.

TB yes aids no let the aids suffer suffer it is self inflicted disease un less one got it through some other way then sexual activity such as blood transfusion.
Aids can be eradicated if one does not indulge In extra martial sex and sticks to one partner (Your husband or wife). go back to the law of sex that was used by our ancestors and all was safe then.

For ur info...AIDS can be through contaminated, mother to child ... even when talking of sexual transmission -- an innocent partner can get from the miscreant partner. SO blaming all AIDS patients & saying they should suffer shows ur own ignorance & stupidity
