So I will paste from this new report in stages) ------------------------------------- Issue Date: Monday, September 03, 2007 IISc looks to Belur for seeds of birth ANIL BUDUR LULLA Bangalore, Sept. 2: The Indian Institute of Science, which will step into its centenary year in 2008, is looking to Bengal%u2019s Belur Math to fill in gaps relating to its birth.
%u201CThe growth of modern science and the growth of the IISc have progressed together. So, we would like to lay our hands on all archival material relating to the birth of this premier institute,%u201D IISc chief librarian S. Venkadesan said.
The institute plans to bring out a book on its early history and is collecting audio and visual material.
Venkadesan is certain that a part of the IISc%u2019s history is buried somewhere in Calcutta and wants to find out.
%u201CAs the then Indian capital had many scientists, we are quite sure that if old published works are dusted down from the shelves, the IISc%u2019s history will become clearer.%u201D
In the Belur Math archives, trustees have found letters exchanged between Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata, the founder of India%u2019s first science institute, and Swami Vivekananda.
The IISc, too, possesses a letter written by Tata to Vivekananda but not the reply.

%u201CAlthough we have a hand-written letter by Tata to Swami Vivekananda, his reply has not been traced so far. We know it is in the Ramakrishna Mission headquarters%u2019 archives. We hope they will part with valuable information,%u201D Venkadesan said.
Vivekananda and Tata met during a voyage to the US aboard the steamship SS Empress of India and agreed to start a world-class science institute in India to promote the scientific temperament. Their discussions led to the idea of the IISc.
Back home after delivering his famous Chicago address, Vivekananda went about instilling this idea among the elite and the scientists of Calcutta. Articles printed by the English and Bengali press, apart from Belur Math%u2019s publications, hold the key to the modest beginnings of the Bangalore institute.
Venkadesan said some gaps remain in our knowledge of the next steps in the institute%u2019s birth.
%u201CWe need to fill these gaps before coming out with our commemorative issue. One reason for the gaps is that Tata died before his dream was fulfilled. But with his death, he left behind more people in Calcutta convinced that the Indian Institute of Science should be started. It finally did in 1908,%u201D the chief librarian said.

When the movement for establishing a world-class science institute grew strong with Sister Nivedita and Bengali intellectuals supporting it, Lord Curzon, then governor-general of India, opposed it. These developments were reported in the Bengali and English press of that time.
%u201CThe breakthrough came when the Maharaja of Mysore, Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, offered 372 acres to set up the institute in Bangalore,%u201D Venkadesan said.
The institute is also looking for copies of a newsletter, Prabuddha Bharat, published between 1901 and 1904.
%u201CThis is a newsletter published by the Ramakrishna Ashram. These copies will tell us more about the formation of the IISc,%u201D Venkadesan said.
The IISc archives cell, headed by Venkadesan, will collect, catalogue and preserve all material relating to the institute, which will acknowledge whoever enriches its archives. In the centenary year, the IISc will organise meetings, seminars and science fairs.
RSS is doing more social work than any other organization in this country. they are not getting publicity becoz 1. rss is not doing these things for publicity, its a service for them 2. Indian media run by pseudo secularists don't want to project all the good works RSS do kudos to rediff for publishing this article, so that many get a chance to discuss and know more abt RSS

Moral policing is the religious authority of only Mulsim Moulvis and Cristian priests. They impose their authority during the worship in Mosques and Churches, which are mandatory for their religion. This is not the case with hinduism and RSS. Don't try to imagine things.

By comparing RSS with Talibans, you are trying to justify there extremism and terrorism. You look a real terrorist. Shame on you!
Main problem with RSS is that they don't try to get publicity for their work. A bigger problem is that the media is totally opposed to RSS, and always try to blame RSS for everything. The biggest problem is that RSS doesn't protest against the false propaganda of the media.
Due to this, people in general believe the media and don't want to support RSS. Even people who earlier supported RSS are afraid to do so now.

Earlier we did not believe in propaganda, becasue we used to think that critisism will end automatically when we prove ourselves usefull. But this did not happen due to dirty politics of Congress, who always need to pose something against Muslims to win their votes. So now we have started giveing fitting reply to false propaganda agaisn us. We have established many Vishwa Sanvad Kendtras, which are carrying their duties in this regard.
The need of the hour is to keep RSS away at any cost. The real fears for India are division of India based on religion, which the BJP, RSS, VHP, Bajrangi's are aspiring to do. You can see that wherever BJP has ruled they have killed the minorities, incited the people to kill each other in the name of GOD. Whereas the people who died were all from the lower castes, the Brahmins who decide the policies for these organisations are always free pouring the poison in the society.
The thought of BJP in power is really scary. What will they do ? In the name of RAM and Hindutva, they will start civil war in India. All works for peace & prosperity will be stalled and the only work they will start is pouring poison in the Indian society and inciting people to kill each other. This helps them as Brahmins remain at top and the lower castes keep on fighting in the name of RAM.

Secular congress is in power for last 3 years... (please note that I am not refering to their earlier rule for nearly 50 years). Could this pseudo secular congress stop the brutal killings? Who is involved in killings? minority or majority?

The Structure in Ayodhya was never a mosque...have you ever been there...do we not have communal riots before BJP or Jan Sangh??.. at the time of partition (1947) we face riots. Who is responsible for that and again 1984 against Sikhs...you people don%u2019t have brain to understand all these.

RSS has openly said that anyone who doesn't believe in Hindutva is not an Indian.There are lot of evidence regarding.RSS cadres are given weapon trainings(for what).Bajrang Dal has killed many christian missionaries.They openly promotes caste system.There is nothing in the name of Hindutva,which talks of one nation, one people ,one party, and one book.It is rather meant to enslave and impovereish the awakened Indian once again. Unless and until Indians remain vigilant and wary they may again be consigned to the dustbin of history to suffer eternal darkness and human bondage. What Indian need today is education, free, universal and liberal. It is only education that can give them reason and courage to stand up and challenge RSS. And it is exactly for this reason that `Hindutva' talks of "Indianising, nationalising and spiritualsing" education. It also talks of reviving the study of Sanskrit. These diabolic attempts to Sanskiritsing and Safronising education must not be allowed at any cost.

According to RSS , Indians Muslims are converted hindus and hence are very much part of india and hindutava- .Provided they keep nation ahead of religion and stop takeing pride in Muslim invaders like Aurangzeb and Babar.
Please do your homework completely before writing anything.. I dont understand why people like you could not see what RSS is doing for the COuntry. Go to any rural area in Orissa or any other state. See how swayamshevaks are helping the people. when ever there is drought or flood or any other natural calamities, RSS swamshevak's reach the place to help people before government employees could reach. you should understand that they are doing numerous activities for the upliftment of poors.
you talk about Sanskritisation and Saffronisation of education, but hav you given a thought how important is it for all of us to learn about our glorious history. The present system is a result of deliberate distortions made by western-inspired planners. The contributions made by ancient Indians in a myriad fields ranging from astronomy, mathematics, agriculture, textiles to physics and botany have been deliberately kept out of the education system. One needs to know the history of the country in an unaltered way, and if RSS is helping to provide the knowledge, i dont see anything wrong in that, because i beleive "Only India-centric education can help instil self-confidence and a sense of pride among the country's youth".
So, learn to praise a good effort.
FYI, I am not a Swayamshevak but I admire them a lot.

Anybody Who dont love INDIA is not a INDIAN. Killing anybody including the missioneries should be condemned. But on the same breath I condemn the act of Convertion.
As one of my Arab friends said " If somebody convert to Hinduism, and I kill him, it will not be treated as a crime as per Sharia Law"
Thank God, RSS not following such rules, else what must had happened to those who are getting converted for money and other benefits.
