who is the "majority"?

a democracy is about "politcal majority".

not a sectarian majority. do you communal cretins understand the difference?

communalists like the sangh and its supporters are always only a section of any scoiety. i challenge the BJP to touch 30% of the votesin any general eelction. its not going to happen for the next milenium.

so when did sangh remotely gain a "majority"?

they only exist in your imagination birdbrain.

by hardtruths on Nov 09, 2007 11:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This article is biased in its very conceptual.. As though all other parties are secular, this article is completely against BJP..

Particularly, there is no justification for the muslims to oppose raising indian national flag at idgah maidan.. the issue is completely justifiable for the BJP.. they are also indians right..

Secondly, the familiar concept of "appease muslims, if you are secular" is again reminded in this article.

The objection to raising of the national flag at the idgah maidan has to be seen in its correct perspective. The maidan is the largest open space in that area and some communal minded Hindus do not like Muslims to have control of such a large piece of land hence this stunt of raising the flag there.National flag cannot be raised by the public on private property without the consent of the owners. How would the RSS like if someone insisted on raising the national flag on their Headquartes in Nagpur? The trouble with us is that we jump to conclusion and take a biased view instead of analysing and understanding a problem created by communal and other anti national forces.

Hellow Madam,
The ground was not a private property, it is a govt property whereby muslims were given permission to conduct namaz on certain days in a year.

The judgment of the High Court may be summarised as follows:

The Idgah Maidan is not the exclusive property of the Anjuman-e-Islam but belongs to what was by then the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation.

The Maidan was licensed to the Anjuman for purely religious purposes, that is, to offer prayers on two days in the years, the Bakrid and the Ramzaan.

The Anjuman may not use the property for any educational or commercial purpose.

The permanent structures already erected by the Anjuman may be demolished within 45 days.

The public (inclusive of the Muslim community) has no customary rights of the user on the property. Following this judgment, the Anjuman made a Special Leave Petition to the Supreme Court to appeal against the above judgment and sought a stay order against the demolition of the permanent structures. The stay was granted

Yes, you are liable to labeled as communal in this country if you -
1) Do not appease minorities through reservations, special laws, subsidies and provisions
2) Denounce Islamic terrorism
3) Oppose conversions
4) Do not attack Hindu customs
5) Do not allow insult to Hindu Gods and religious practices.
6) Talk of genuine Hindu interests
7) Condemn unethical practices followed by Muslim and Christian clergy
8) Do not support illegal infiltration of Bangladeshis in India.
9) Support Uniform Civil Code
10) Do not form association with secular outfits like Muslim League and Ittehad-ul Muslimeen
11) Take up the cause of Kashmiri Pundits

BJP satisfies these conditions and hence qualifies to be called communal

Although Christians are the first and most vocal to demand minority rights and alleged supposed human rights violations, how many christians participated in the freedom movement?
missionaries and other church institutions have usurped millions of acres of land for useless purposes of setting up churches or institutions for conversion. if they care about humanity, they should free this land for poor dalits and landless tribals instead of misguiding and converting them. they will remain poor as long as missionaries keep on eating their share and become grosser

Dear Pappad,
..You are just crossing lanes when I relate your comment to the article. Here we are talking about communal harmony (between hindus and muslims) in karnataka. Well, christians have always been the most peaceful minority community of India, but the one which is very dedicated in bringing the right education to everyone, medical centers for the public and many more things. Just peep into the many christian run schools all over India, u find 85 to 90 percent of non - christian students. All land and property under christian custody for all this good purpose is rightfully leased and owned by the chrisian authorities. This allegation of conversions is absolutely baseless, christian missionaries are out to help the poor...we don't ask or force them to accept and embrace christianity. Yes though in small numbers, there were christians involved in the Indian freedom movement.
..Yes dalits have been surpressed for a long time but now yes you see in most government and semi - government organisations all job positions are held by dalit men and women. But, today if you give everything to the dalit community you will give birth to many more dalit like communities. Let them now get things on merit basis. Finally, lets come to the punchline please try and be sane when you write something like this without evidence..just don't list to idiots around and write things to hurt sentiments of the community which spreads love and peace and unity.

1. christians have not acquired land for useless purpose or illegally. All land or property are purchased by the community.
2. besides not only dalits, hindus of all caste & creed are seeking education from these schools.
3. Personally visit any of the institution & see if they request you for conversion, gossip is very simple.
4. In all way I hope atleast you should agree that they are doing good to society except your agitation of conversion.
to fight for minority rights in a democratic way is not wrong.
If muslims do somethings you call them terrorists.

the kind of donations mother teresa received were sufficient to turn every clinic in kolkata into having five star facilities. where did all that money go? even her missionaries of charity had pedestrian facilities. mother teresa herself took treatment for minor ailments in lavish foreign hospitals. why do catholics always call on followers to donate more and more when the pope lives in opulence that even many rich cannot dream of?

..Believe you haven't been to West Bengal so far...please don't reveal your identity and don't tell the Bengalees that you once wrote this article against Mother Theresa....or else Bengalees would keep you in West Bengal for ever. I did not say the christian bengalees. Mother Theresa in her self she is a legend she did more to make and keep herself tall then her physical stature. All communities respect the work done by Mother Theresa and she will respected for ever. Oh Mother took medical aid in lavish foreign hospitals..who paid the bills? is it you or the institution for which Mother stood. No bills were paid for the medical treatment she received ..in the European and Western world but her followers sponsored everything for her and the institution which she was heading. Pope is the leader of the christian community and the bond for the intact peace in this world...show me your gurus or religious heads who are living in the streets and hutments. When your favorite politians get so much of security and enjoy pomp life in the society..then the POPE is surely entitled for more. He is our spiritual head ..leads the community which believes in peace, love and harmony and follows truth of life.

There was an article in TOI some days ago. Basically, it was about a survey carried out in various countries to estimate the extent of religious devotion amongst the people in various countries.
The survey found that people in US, India and a few other countries were highly religious. Most people in Europe were not religious.
The article sought to portray that with the exception of USA, all developed countries aren't religious.
What the article missed (or rather omitted conveniently) was the aggressions by Muslims and Britishers on India, which has impoverished India.

The pseudo press of India
by Sam on Nov 09, 2007 10:21 AM  Permalink

This is how the BJP gets a bad name:

1. The congress-sponsored goons attack Muslims and Christians.
2. The pseudo press is there at the right place at the right time (one wonders how?) to capture the image of a man with tika attacking someone.
3. BJP & VHP get a bad press the next day
4. Common man believes the news.
5. The foreign media follows suit. What have they got to loose? They (USA/Britain) are known to be troublemakers.
6. The hip and educated crowd in India follows what the foreigners have to say. After all, you will not be called hip if you do not ape the west?

And above all!! When hindus get killed in Kashmir or NE (pretty much on a daily basis), the press conveniently looks the other way.
