I don't expect the RSS to leave their facist idealogy overnight.

More and more educated people, be it in India, the US or Europe have an inclination and support RSS.Today there are more RSS supporters wearing buisness suits than khaki chaddis.
By the way RSS is the only institution that works against cast system in India, this is from my experience.
So for better or for worse RSS membership will only increase, not decrease.

Pakistanis are the Punjabis blood brothers not the rest of India's! Punjabis can go and celebrate Baisakhi and Basant with them but for rest of the country Pakistan is an alien land and culture. Punjabis both Hindus/Sikhs and Mulsims on either side of the border are genetically same people with a common culture, food and habits. If a Pakistani, a Punjabi and a South Indian/Maharashtian is standing side by side who will most resemble each other? The Pakistani and the Punjabi!

An who was Gandhiji, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Udham Singh, Guru Gobind Singh. Aren't they from north. Haven't they protected the country. It is just because of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and sikh warriors that hindu religion is present in India. Many Indians don't even know the sacrifices of these people especially many south Indians

Aliens only exist (if they do) beyond the solar system. Today we are more connected that ever before. No one is an alien. If you think that way then you need to see beyond the lane outside your house.

Cancer!
by Arun Kumar on Nov 06, 2007 04:50 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

"It is a lesson for all of us; hate and extremism can destroy, but they can never help a people bloom." I hope you mean it in the context of Gujarat too. RSS is nothing but an Indian version of Taliban. Both Taliban and RSS are cancers in the society. RSS is a cancer that is still curable.

RSS preaching democracy?
by Biju NAIR on Nov 06, 2007 04:50 AM  Permalink

How is it that the editor of the mouthpiece an organisation built on un-democratic foundation and violence as an acceptable means to "soulution finding" can preach democracy just because their pet hate is in doldrums. In german there is a word "Schadenfreude" -which is used describe the enjoyment of pain out of someoneelse's suffering. The author exemplifies that.

RSS and Gandhiji
by asli baat on Nov 06, 2007 04:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In Pakistan, Gandhiji may not be revered - though there are many there who have a lot of respect for him. But a chaddiwala making that point? Baat kucch hajam nahin hui. Nathuram Godse ke chaddi-buddies ke munh se aisi baatein shobha nahin detin.

Agar baat hajam nahi ho rahi hai to jake apna hajma theek karo Miyan. Kuch sharbat wagarah piyo. Aur aap yeh bhi batayein ki apke munh se kaun si baat shobha deti hai. Aapne jo kuch bhi likha, aapke munh se shobha deti hai, jaake apne pitaji se puchiye.

"India and Pakistan as friends can make progress together and leave the Europeans far behind. We have everything -- brilliance, youth, strength of a hardworking attitude, a land rich in resources and strategic location." ........

Wow I am really surprised you said this, given the curren geo-political situation, terrorism in Kashmir, the Siachin problem, the very though of something like this makes me laugh. Btw, given the hypothetical situation of a merger, the aggregation of resources would prove to be a great asset, but the liability in terms of the Pakistani people and the various extremist Islamic groups in Pak would negate this drastically. I am really surprised at the writer's thinking. School boy thinking.

Even i agree with u. I wud never call the pakistani counterpart my brother. It was their decision to part and now its our decision tht we shud accept them or not. How can one forget the pain and sufferings of the lakhs of people who lost their loved ones to the unstopping terrorism sponsored by our cruel neighbour. If Pakistanis dnt have sense of what their govt is leading them into and do not oppose sponsored terrorism than why shud we forgive them. I m sure their very own Allah will teach them a hard lesson for bringing violence to innumerable innocent lives. Ameen.

Bangladesh is poor because of geographical condition, same Problem with West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar. There are many rich Islamic countries, Malaysia is the example, which flourish not because of oil, but by liberalization.

Another good one, but......
by MS on Nov 06, 2007 04:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Another good piece by Tarun, but it bothers me that writers from Panchjanya, Organiser or other sangh publication rarely write anything other than History and Honor. Issues of the under-privileged never seem to bother them. Nor does environmental degradation, plight of farmers, land grabbing in the name of SEZs. Any amount of accusation about Hindu upper caste insensitivity to the down-trodden ever seems to have an effect on them.

You are badly prejudiced Mr.or Ms.MS. I believe you are a communists, if not mistaken. Even if we take your statement, tell us who is rasing the voice on these issues ? Communists...isn't it?
India will never develope if people of your ilk fail to see the real side of the story.
