Looking at the ongoing crisis in Pakistan- I feel that we are really lucky to be in India, where the Army is totally apolitical and has never interfered in the political matters of the nation. Though out army has a number of shortcomings in form of corruption and hierarchy, I feel it is better than the Pakistan Army atleast on this account. However our politicians seem to be no different!

you appear to be a communist and that's why your blood is boiling - cool man - do not rush in to comment on congress or bjp - we are indians but you are just an agent of china.
Well expressed Hanif saab! Surely Musharraf was out of his wits. It was pathetic to see a dictator more or less weeping on the TV and addressing the nation as if the whole of it has only school-kids in it who would listen to any crap given by a headmaster.
His word 'conviction' looked meaningless in the whole show! You know, when Musharraf speaks, he is under the impression that all his junta has accepted him. He is wrong there.
The fact is that no military dictator in Pakistan wants to even know what a democracy is. What did he mean by 'YOUR level of democracy'? Wasn't it funny? Did he mean that he wanted a joint venture of partly a dictatorship and partly a democracy (only because the world insists it)? And what did he mean by 'give us time' What the hell for? Actually he wanted the time for himself and not for the nation. And there are plenty of nations around who learnt democracy from inception without the time advantage!
Hanifsaab, educated people like you and the judges do not count in a dictatorship. Intelligence of a dictator is always upto the level of his shoulder, nothing above it. We call it 'Khandeshi'. Khanda means shoulder. If US had not been there, sure, all intellectuals would have been massacred by now as they did in Bangla Desh when it was 'East Pakistan'.
It is time for Musharraf to run away from the show or the roumer of his arrest would be realised soon.

Gen Ayub Khan, trained at Sandhurst and with a pronounced preference for the good things of life that are frowned upon by Islam, was a perfect ally for Governments on both sides of the Atlantic. The American media feted him, even when he pompously declared, %u201CDemocracy cannot work in a hot climate. To have democracy, we must have a cold climate like Britain.%u201D
Mushy agrees with Uncle Ayub that democracy is too good for Pakistan!
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Some Muslims attacked Hindu houses today at 9 am under the pretext of disturbance during Namaaz due to devotional songs being played at PMPG, Mhada colony, Mankhurd. (Beware Hindus! This is Islamic %u2018Jihad%u2019. Muslims attacking today for playing of devotional songs will kill you tomorrow! What are the political parties and large Hindu organisations going to do in this regard? - Editor)
Navaratri is celebrated on the Mhada Colony Road for the past many years. Some Muslims were offering Namaaz in the colony behind the Pendaal constructed for the Navaratri celebrations. At this time, devotional songs were being played in a house in Building no. 110. It was at this time that the Muslims attacked. They pelted stones on Hindu houses and damaged 15 two-wheelers and 1 four-wheeler parked in the building compound. They entered the building and started banging violently on the doors of the houses and threw away the items kept in between two houses after damaging them. (Hindus, what preparations have y%u2019ll made to face these obstinate Muslims over-pampered by all-party politicians?) There is fear in the locality due to the chaos created by Muslims. (It is a shame that Muslims create chaos and Hindus get scared in a Hindu majority country.)
For the Pakistanis destructions of the Hindus are much more important than any Democracy, which has no meaning in the Muslim countries. There is no Muslim country with Democracy. Pakistan had Military Dictatorship since 1955. Thus, it is not any different. Why do you shed your tears for the people who have killed millions of us, and made life miserable for millions and millions ever since that bloody country was born. Hate Pakistan and hate Pakis, kill them all. They are our enemies. They will not rest until they kill each and every Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and now even Christians, of course Jews and Zorastrians. We should wish they will all go to hell along with their Biriyani and Murge Mussalam, which the bloody Indian journalists so much like.
What ever mush is doin is gud fr pakistan and above all india.....as ppl may say he enginered kargil let me tell them its nt a one man show .....ite gravely important to control islamic terrorism and mush is the only man who can do it.....pakistan has itself created this chaos fr themselves....nt anyone else.....so its high time they shed off there islamic ideology and go fr more logical ideology....killin all jihadis ia a must fr peace in the subcontinent....
And ya the author talks abt some elite women in india(delhi)watchin pakistan tv to see mush....its laughable always to hear abt the elite .....on one fine day i saw a channel takin general knowledge test of these so called intellectually elite party goers....they asked simple questions....eg who is the prime minister of india....the answer that elite modern lady gv was amazin....Bherosin shekhawat.....lol ....the funniest part was that she know or hv heard shekhawats name but didnt know A.B vajpayee was the prime minister....it was laughable...these elites r just scums who hv become rich and hv nothin to do....low on education and general awareness...

Dear vikas shinde..please note that ab vajpayee is no longer PM! unless u are referring to a programme telecast more than 3 years ago!!
Gen. Musharraf is finally doing what President Putin did for Russia--stop democracy from turning into total chaos. Hopefully, he is also finally beginning to listen to what many of us have been telling him for many months now, that his original mandate was to impose tough political reforms and empower the Pakistanis so they begin to generate real leadership, and not prematurely hand the country over to a political elite that lacks real democratic credentials. And thirdly, by declaring emergency rule, President Musharraf has thrown cold water on Washington's plans for a regime change in Islamabad. Washington's handpicked future ruler of Pakistan, Mrs. Benazir Bhutto, hurriedly left Pakistan a couple of days earlier and returned on Saturday only to come out of the airport and find everything changed. And one of her most trusted aides, Mr. Rehman Malik, the man who was doing the actual negotiations with Islamabad on behalf of Mrs. Bhutto, virtually escaped from Pakistan only hours before the declaration of emergency. I can only imagine the top guns at the U.S. Department of State scratching their heads at how quickly the entire scenario has changed in Pakistan.
