RE:Indian democracy is a mockery

Judiciary??? You know who the judiciary throws contempt of court charges when they are exposed. All our pillars in shambles. Our political system needs to be changed. Citizens should have the power to recall politicians at any time. We need to come out with a workable mechanism for that. I wouldn't mind frequent elections. At least the workers who put things together will benefit with elections rather than the politicians swindling when there is no election.
Dedicated courts to try corrupt politicians??? These dedicated courts would be no different from our regular courts. Nothing will come out of it. You know what happened to corrupt officials who where caught by Lok Ayukta. No proceeding; and on top of it they were also promoted.
The saarc countries power was always with chosen few-either by rajeshahi/dynastic/feudal jamindars. These people rule be it any form of govt democracy/autocracy/monarchy. With 5% rulers and 95% ruled we function and name the style of governanace as we please ourselves. Thats the irony. Can India claim it has true democracy in real sense? LOOk AT MIRROR AND ANSWER TO YOURSELF!!!
You have hit the nail on the head.While your article presents the prevailing picture do you have any concrete/positive suggestions to overcome these drawbacks?

ANyway, the BJP seems more non-raja sahi; Their leaders have so far not promoted their kith and kin ; We donot know if Modi, Vajpayee, Advani et al have ever done so;
On any day, the governance in Pakistan is better than the governance in India. Our crooked politicians are merely robbing the nation. Congress is the worst crook in the entire world.
Musharraf is better than all our horrible Indian politicians. Right or wrong, he is trying to do at least something for his country, not for his personal gains.
Our dirty politicians are absolutely corrupt and selfish.

You are right! That doesn't make Musharaf better. But, at present state Pakistan is better than India. here is only one person to swindle. In India, everyone govt servent/politician and judiciary is screwing the common man.

It is true that corruption is bad but living in a country where there is freedom of thought, expression etc., is a very happy thing in itself. You will realise this only if you go and live in one of those close, dictatorial countries at least for some time. It is very difficult to live in such places.

Freedom of thought, expression etc. are necessary, but not sufficient.
Our Indian politicians can not be tolerated. They practise divisive vote bankl politics and are destroying the culture and heritage of this country.

that's a charge levelled (and probably true) about politicians of all democratic countries.

Land reforms. How is it that during land reforms land was taken away from farmers and given to poor farmers. But, we never see land taken away from big industrial house who have huge land bank all across the country?? Well, that is probably the aam admi programs!
