JAPAN recently launched its lunar probe in September 2007 and its arch rival CHINA has followed up with its own lunar probe in October 2007. INDIA has planned its Chandrayan - I launch for the first half of 2008. The new space race is really hotting up among the 3 asian giants. With China having surprised the world with its first manned space mission in 2003, Japan and India have also announced their plans for manned missions in the near future. Countries have always associated prestige and national honour with space missions.

................ India should focus on MAKING INDIAN LAND AND COUNTRY BETTER AND CLEAN than participate in stupid space races.
This is a lessen we the great Indians must learn. We had scientists like Vikram Sarabai & CV Raman(whose research on scattering of light has been used to produce high quality optical communication devices). But alas what did we get only the Western Companies purchased(took away) the technology and minted money. These great men could not succeed because of the political remote control. Our netas want things from abroad but will not permit any good thing with a lable " Made in India". The Attitude of our netas is dont let our country come up so they can go up filling up their pockets. I dont feel any neta would ever be happy to hear the conquest of their own mother land.
Chinese intentionally speeded up the moon mission before India and i do hope Indian Moon Mission with high resolution Remote Sensing will fetch more results than chinese.ISRO should not delay Indian moon mission furthur since so many Asian countries are competing.APRIL 2008 launch may be advanced but not postponed. How about an Indian on Moon.

You could be wrong. China alwats has its arch-enemy Japan more in mind than India. It could be the case in this lunar mission also. China has always Japan's economic success and was finally forced to open up its economy in 1978 to match up. Now it wants to be the leader in all categories of space missions. But one couldn't fail noting that China has made the biggest contribution to militarising space in recent times through its Anti-Satellite Test (ASAT).
