This explains why I have always wondered Bengal which was the most developed region in India during pre independence era and produced some of the brightest intellectuals in the country is now one of the poorest states,almost on level with Bihar. It's because of these loonies and their ridiculous policies that has made the state so backward. How the mighty have fallen. I hope atleast now the Bengalis and the Keralites wake up and vote them out of power or else they will take the country back to the stone ages instead of making it a super power.

That's too much man. Come on, you can't compare Bengal with Bihar. It has not become that worse. Infact for last 2-3 yrs it's development rate has been among the top 6 states in India

I am not surprised to see Karat's statements. Afterall, communists supported China in the Indo-China war of 1962. It is pathetic to see a regional party like CPM (only in bengal & kerala) screwing up the country and holding us to ransom. Congress should part ways with these buggers. I am sure Karat's and Yechuri's children (if they have) would be studying in US. Opportunists ..good for nothing. GOTO CHINA

Isn't it a serious crime for a person, holding the post of GS for a lading political party? His statments are unbecoming of person holding responsible position. If the communist parties wants to stop all the alliance with america, let them go to the gates of Infy, wipro etc etc who do all sort business with US.

Karat worried about China more than India and West Bengal....sounds funny and ironic! Also tells why WB has been left behind in development...it makes one laugh as well, since these socialist think they can help the mighty Chinese and the latter will seek their meager support! The (Indian) comrades are sleeping with the fact that the Chinese and Americans are the biggest trade partners in today's world. What the heck are these socialist trying to do by making such a strange sounding strategy?! Simply makes no sense....apart from that perhaps they are trying to woo the minority vote bank by countering a country that has fought wars in Muslim Iraq and Afghanistan and is also in dispute with Iran, another Muslim nation. But this is what the Indian secularism is all about...pampering and fooling....never trying to help the minorities or anybody else in the real terms....so the story ends there without any further scope for discussions!
