Mayawati as the winner
by seshadri santhanam on May 12, 2007 08:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Let us give the credit to Mayawati who gambled by giving more seats to the upper caste aspirants and made them win in this election. There was no film star nor was their wide TV coverage by so called secular forward looking channels. Let us hope that the new government does not vengefully target Mulayam & Co but rather concentrate on economic development of the state. Let their be PROPSPERITY IN UTTAR PRADESH

on sonia gandhi
by rajat on May 12, 2007 08:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

those questioning sonia gandhi's commitment to india's cause by virtue of her foreign birth are missing a basic point: none of us of the current generation have the right to raise such an objection, because while sonia may lack understanding of the essence of this country, we do as well because we were not born until much after independence. the logic is impeccable further because if you continue to insist that her nationality is an issue, that is akin to insisting that one is born into certain privileges -- an evil against which our nation was founded.

You make a valid point. There is no point in questioning Sonia Gandhi. She has been the fulcrum of UPA and undertaken the responsibility with aplomb. We have a well established two-pole polity now, thanks to stability within UPA. UP parties like SP & BSP have been not quite in these formations, and hence the Communist speculation of third front. if SP joins either NDA or UPA and BSP the other, the polarisation which Prez Kalam recently spoke of, would be complete; thereby paving way for a very long term social stability in whole of India.

Supporting a foreigner and a family only shows the bankruptcy of the political party in a democratic country and it is the signal that they are still likes to become a slave of the foreigners.

RE:Bhramins and Haathi

well said. I am sure with the success of the dalit-brahmin unity, a renaissance in India will begin where the oppressed class- dalits and brahmins come together and preserve the bharath culture against the relegious offensive by muslims and christians and also against the financial and cultural discrimination by OBCs who actually are the oppressors of both dalits and brahmins .

Long live dalit-brahmin unity

She gives good governance for the entire state and helps UP to realize its potential. Her campaign shows that it is possible to unite Hinuds in a positive manner not in a negative manner like how the BJP was doing. I am also happy that congress is finished in UP.

the communal CD did BJP in
by armando on May 12, 2007 08:20 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is time that the BJP realises that there is no hope in dividing the people on religious lines.

The communal CD that the party tried to launch is the real reason why the party has got drubbed. It is amazing that the people of UP have realised the game and given the party a sound thrashing.

parties should realise that indians are not cannon fodder. The people of india are bright and one of the most intelligent in this whole wide world.

Let us now be humble and march on without having our heads bloated due to false pride. And let us not be empty vessels that make the most noise. United, we march forward, as indians first and last and not as hindus, muslims and christians!

We are all children of God and saying that another religion is bad is like telling God that He did not know what He was doing.

Muslims thank the BJP for the CD. That pushed them towards BSP.

Ask Sitaram Yechuri whether CPIM used Post-Godhra VCDs in Muslims Areas during last West Bengal Election.

State Election Commission banned those VCDs after opposition made complaint to them.

Now the same yechuri cannot comeback and sermon us that Godhra is communal, but post-Godhra is secular.

by Sanah Ahmed on May 12, 2007 08:15 AM  Permalink

People standing in for elections - are not for cause of the country but to hold power by playing the caste games... this the kind of democracy we have .. what happened to the primary education, primary health in the villages, basic potable water in the villages, sewerage system in the villages and electricity in villages....

when will the Economically Dalit will bought up to speed on to the main stream of life. I am refereing Dalin not based on caste - but based on income levels and acess to the basic aminities, we all say we have to get away with the cast system and the very same politicians have marginalized the hindu brahmins - look at their plight in Kashmir and in Tamil Nadu...

proud Indian

Public have rejected the group of Mulayam, Amitabh, Ambani and Amar singh.

She (Mayawati) will be our next P.M. if she takes upper caste with him.

Public rejected politics of muslims by Mulayam and congress. Public also rejected Advani's BJP who says Jinna is secular.
