BSP is way ahead of any other nearest rival in UP and above all , its able to form the government on its own with the current trend.. I dont understand why congress is still screaming that it will give an outside support. it had forgotten that it has hardly any space in assembly but proclaiming that it will give an outside support is funny act..

UP people had little alternative. Mayawati enjoyed most the benefit of all. Mylayam suffered from anti-incumbency wave, corruption, and lawlessness in UP, BJP though fared much better than SP when they ruled UP, expected to finish 2 in the race, and Congress as you said expected to be 3 rd only in the race. However the results proved that SP comes 2nd and BJP is pushed to the 3rd place.
Mayawati during her earlier stints, has not fared well, other than naming many places with the names of Budha, Ambedkar, and installing of many statues of Ambdedkar in every nook and corner. She was carrying a tag as the only for dalit, which she wanted to improve this time by including Brahmans also. This may be a vote catching stance. We need to wait and see if she does actually anything good for this great community, after assuming power. Under the circumstances, it appears that UP people had not much of an alternative but to vote for her. Therefore it should be read as rejection of Congress, SP, and to a certain extent BJP as well.
Congress, though deputed its yuvraj in waiting for the campaign, couldnt add much to its numbers! Its claim of supporting BSP from outside is just a posture only, even though BSP may manage on its own, or atbest with the help of independents.

Swamy, its so simple.
Congress is doing this, so that BJP doesn't supports the BSP first. In that case, congress would not be able to relish power in UP, and moreover, if it is not seen helping Mayawati, its presendential candidate is not very likely to pass muster to pass through. An in that situation, its position could get thorny, if in case it doesn't gets an absolute majority in the next general elections.
Remember, its politics. Nothing is done for others, its all for selfish motives.
