Indo-US nuclear deal: Nicholas Burns' visit to Delhi
by Krishna Prasad on Jun 01, 2007 10:08 AM  Permalink

India cannot be said to have a minimum nuclear detrrent without missile delivery systems that are intercontinental reach (ICBMs)and can carry multiple warheads. China has them and also it is not impossible that US and UK can intervene in India with ground troops should Taliban be not contained and it spreads eastward into Pakistan and even into India via Kashmir. In fact evidence from media suggets that this has already occurred. As for not wanting weapons and only money to fight poverty, do we want to compromise India's hard won freedom? Economy and military might including of course nuclear offensive capability go hand in glove. So let us we Indians not be complacent and only think that economis might is the sole are main answer to be powerful. Take a look Japan, since their military is weak, China with its nuclear combined with developing economic might can overrun Japan. The US must amend the Hyde act and make an exception to accommodate India's demands. Jai Hind.

This is another psy-ops article
by Vijay A on Jun 01, 2007 10:01 AM  Permalink

I think this is another psy-ops article planted by americans or PMO to influence indians. We all know MMS was opposed to nuclear testing in 1998 so how can we trust him and his policies on nuclear matters? He has his children in US and who knows he may be selling Indian intrestes for his personal intrests, after all he is not responsible to anybody - he is not even elected? Economic strength without military strength is meaningless - look what happened in 1962 when we were developing at the rate of 9 to 10% per annum and Nehru foolishly believed in peace and friendship with China, they attacked and we did not had military might to fight them. By surrendering our nuclear capability in American hands we will be committing biggest blunder. When AK himself has said that we have enough uranium to last for century what energy deal are we talking about? Also as part of deal any so called hi-tech transfer to India will have to go through and approved by US congress so they can still control what to give us. It is shame that when US is working on this deal with mandate from their congress and as per their laws, our government has kept everybody in dark even parliament and PMO is busy arm twisting our scientists to surrender to the wishes of PMO and MEA. US realises this government is weakest and can easily surrender unlike NDA whom they could not force - hence they are in hurry to sign this deal and cap Indian nuclear capability. Shame on our PM and UPA government.

Reject the Deal
by Dipak Bose on Jun 01, 2007 05:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

You have to ask yourself why the Americans are so interested in this deal.
The deal is not about Nuclear Enery, it is about Nuclear Weapons. USA wants India to be without nuclear weapons, so that India would have to surrender to both Pakistan and China.
After signing the deal India cannot test any nuclear weapons, have not reprocess spent fuels or enrich uraniums, all these are essential for nuclear weapons.
It is false to say that India is a nuclear pariah. Since 1974 the Soviet Union and Russia has supplied every needs to India regarding nuclear power, and it will if India rejects the deal and accept he Russian proposal to have offshore nuclear power plants, which would be outside the restrictions of the Nuclear Suppliers group, controlled by the US.
India has gone to the wrong direction since Jaswant Singh became the foreign minister by not buying from Russia and instead buying everything from the West, from whom India will gain nothing at all.
West hates India as we are black, we are Hindus, we do not eat beef and we are not Europeans.
You cannot change these facts.

RE:Reject the Deal
by A G on Jun 01, 2007 01:35 PM  Permalink
You are right, americans are showing more interest in this deal than the indians, so there is definitely something fishy. But as long as we have american stooges in our government starting from mannu, chiddu etc, they will not rest till they sign it
