The concept of investigation and collecting solid evidence is as alien to Indian police as are the concept of ethics, decorum or professionalism. Their M.O. (modus operandi) is typically to arrest the 'suspects' and beat the living crap out of them until they 'confess'. The judges all know this - that's why they don't allow such 'confessions' unless they were made in the presence of a magistrate, yet the unlawful arrests and beatings, and extra-judicial killing - encounter killings, goes on, ad nauseum, with no end in sight. And yes there are criminals and terrorists - those are the ones the cops should be arresting, not innocent folks who are easy targets for the stupid, inept, incompetent, corrupt buffoons that passes for 'the police'. For far too long, from the days of the British Raj, when their job was actually to oppress the natives and protect the Ghora Sahibs, right on up to the present day, the corrupt cops, pliant creatures of corrupt netas, have had a free hand to do almost anything they pleased, with complete impuntiy.
Indian Politicians know every movement of Maoist unlike what anti-nationals like you propagate here.
They use Maoists to win election.
No less than Dipankar Bhattacharjee, GS of CPIML (who now fight election) said that in an interview with the Outlook last year.
Lalu Prasad have been doing that for years in Bihar. Congress uses Maoists to win election in Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and most notably in Andhra Pradesh recently.
POTA should be enacted to take stong action against Jihadis, maoists who are becoming bigge threat everyday.

Bhaskar I am trying to understand you, I really am. I want Naxalism destroyed too. But laws like POTA can be used to target Anyone, not just Naxals. Thats why its important that the justice system(IPC, CRPC) be adhered to. Times of great flux are easiest for people in power to exploit. These are times when we MUST make sure that civil liberties are not violated because emotions run so high. So use strong police action but have equally strong laws which protect people.
Utterances like yours (branding everyone who disagrees with you "Maoist") are unproductive and dangerous. Its way too one-dimensional so please think about what you are saying.
Incidentally Maoism glorifies violent measures which is exactly what you are advocating. What happened in Soviet Union in terms of draconian laws for hunting the people is Exactly what you are advocating. My apologies, but you seem to me to be suggesting the same measures that Stalin and others used for furthering their interests.
We are a democratic country with a Constitution. Lets adhere to it and solve the problems rather than using extra constitutional(not technically but in principle) means like POTA.
