Dont worry, our Army is too disciplined to do such an act. And the constitution of India is documented in such a way that the Army is only under the command of the Prez, PM & concil of ministers. It cannot act on its own, it has to be ordered to commit an act. So mutiny is out of question unlike Pak army.

Thank god for small mercies, that there are some people who have given some sort ofa reactionto the whole issue... else the old adage serves best for us... soldiers and god are remembered during adversity and war...not after that...WHO CARES !!!!!

court martial

Long separation from families and continuous discharge of duty in hostile conditions call for a milder sentence.Since the case involves manslaughter, the sentence should be commuted to a life sentence. Our jawans should be cared more as they are in the forefront of enemy fire.
This reminds us of FM Monty who used to share food with soldiers of lowest rank often.

Indiscipline cannot be tolerated, but who the hell care for our army/navy/airforce guys anyway?
by Abhilash nair on May 25, 2007 10:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's pathetic that a jawan has to shoot his officer and get a death sentence for the same. But all this is because these guys get no leave, are under stress and are treated like shit.I happened to visit a submarine in bombay.god, those guys are very special to remain tn such cramped up conditions and they were having problems with the government not agreeing to issue disposable clothes for them(they never take bath,no water). It's the same with all branches of forces.I wish I could do soem thing for these guys. All the problem is with the I.A.S lobby who shoots down genuine requests by armed forces.General public like us who sit in A.c rooms do not care to think of these guys.shameful!!!!!!!!

the problem is not in collecting a fund but in utilizing the fund....anyways we already have such a fund....we call it taxes...and enough of those are already collected....collecting a dew hundred rupees in addition would not make the armed forces any happier....they would reap benefits if funds r utilized properly...arms dealers and babus and politicos eat into our funds/taxes...this is something that needs to change....as for my contribution to the nation....i dont have the guts to join the armed forces...so my contribution is more civilion in the form of taxes and any additional funds that are raised.

Too harsh
by Vinay Gupta on May 25, 2007 09:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The punishment is too harsh keeping in mind the conditions in which Jawans are working. I feel measures as recomonded should be taken immediately and the Jawan in this particular case may be given life setence.

I say the sentence is too harsh. I have read some friend writting that is comment is too moderate, made by a looser, and the frinds name is B78ed. Friend if this jawan been a moderator and looser he would have killed his senior. Now do you want to foloow him.

All factors including service conditions would have been taken into consideration by the Army Court Martial before handing out the sentence.
