Mamta Mistress of resignation or walkout
by pattu on May 24, 2007 11:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mamta Banerjee
resigned:
1) youth sports ministry, center (during Rajiv Gandhi tenure)
2) Union Railway Ministry (NDA)
3) Member of Parliament (in protest to Somnath Chatterjee becoming speaker).
3) yet to come (resigned from her own party).
Does she have any ceadibility left?

There is more:
excerpts from wikipedia:
"In the Rao government formed in 1991, Mamta Banerjee was made the Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Youth Affairs and Sports, and Women and Child Development. As the sports minister, she announced that she would resign at a rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, saying that the Government had ignored her proposal to improve sports in the country.[1] She was discharged of her portfolios in 1993. In April 1996, she alleged that Congress was behaving as a stooge of the CPI-M in West Bengal. She claimed that she was the lone voice of protest and wanted a "clean Congress". At a public rally at Alipore in Kolkata, Mamata wrapped a black shawl around her neck and ventured to commit suicide. Her loyalists came forward to save her. In July 1996, she squatted at the well of Lok Sabha to protest against the hike in petroleum price, though she was a part of the Government. In February 1997, on the day of railway budget presentation in Lok Sabha, Mamata Banerjee threw her shawl at the railway minister Ram Vilas Paswan for ignoring West Bengal and announced her resignation."
So, it was Rao government not Rajiv Gandhi government. Sorry for the mistake in the posting above.

by hariyali on May 24, 2007 08:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

why doesn't govt. buy arsenic ridden villages and prepare them for large businesses? That would really help. Getting cultivation land is not the only choice, Bengal is big.

We should never do the right thing, Oh that is a lot of work!

Thats good idea but last three decades these foolish commis have harly spend any amount in the infrastructure development. They only concentrated on building Cadre(which is a good career for lot of people in West Bengal). Now tell me who will invest on remote district where there is no roads(Not Dancing road) and other fecilities. Now those idiot fools are instead of doing their job, most of the time they concentrate on criticizing GUjarat, N Modi etc. They are leaving in a heaven of fools and thinking they are doing great by killing innicent People.

Top leaders of communist party are not that bad compared to their counter parts in other parties. Their problem is their crap ideology which failed to bring any visible progress as far as middle class educated people are concerned. It failed everywhere in the world why it%u2019ll be different in Bengal. CPM cadres and district and panchayat level leaders are the worst. Buddhadev is trying his best. But Mamata is brainless crap. Subhas is good at playing foul against Buddha and a pro Mamata. This walkout and genocide all are farce.

Kick out Mamata and Subhas both.

Industrial growth essential but not at the cost of ouf environment
by Ramesh Natarajan on May 24, 2007 08:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We have someone to protest in India for whatever that has been done. All the Government need to ensure is to have a good corporate social reponsibility of the company that acquires land so that the local community is benefitted and also, no threat to our environments. Read my posting on China's issues with their overheated economic growth:
China%u2019s threat to the global environment

When a criminal says nocody pays heed
So when Subhas said it , dont pay heed to it!
My neighbour said "OFFER A GOAT TO MAKALI
NAMING IT SUBHAS"
Can I stop his mouth?
