These people are worse than animals - so a terrible thing happened - a bomb goes off which kills a lot of innocent people. Is that reason to vent their anger by becoming a violent mob by killing innocent people and destroying property? How will that help? The police by law must step in to protect lives and property and restore order in all such volatile situations. When mobs become killers, police believe they have only firng as a last option, but are there other less fatal options -high-pressure water cannons, rubber bullets, stun-guns, tear-gas, special riot units with specialized equipment, mass arrests etc., etc? Such problem of Goonda violence will never go away as long as the violence-prone miscreants and their 'leaders' are allowed to commit such heinous acts of violence with total impunity. It's time they were prosecuted, every last one, to the fullest extent of the law - mandatory sentence of serving minimum 10 years behind bars, with weekly floggings Taleban ishtyle - see how quick all such mob violence comes to an end. Ditto for the issuers of fatwas, bandhs, strikes etc.

so you wish to say that police should keep calm when the mob is distroying public property. If the petrol bunk near charminar set on fire by the mob imagine its impact on nearby residetial colonies.

The police is well equipped with rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons but while dealing with certain sections it never considers the option and promptly shoots them. The citizens getting shot in cold blood at the hands of their %u2018own force%u2019 is a mockery of democracy but it has become a norm whether in Vadodara or Bhiwandi or Hyderabad
