Although carried to extreme in her first meeting with senior officers in Lucknow on Saturday, Ms. Mayawati is right in debunking eating extravaganzas by India's civil servants during and after long and short meetings. In 2006, a meeting of West Bengal's senior officers from districts with their bosses in the writers Building to discuss starvation deaths and hunger in tribal regions in the State's western districts was punctuated by a sumptuous lunch with biriyani, causing some public and media flutter. If a meeting runs to 3-4 hours, the participants should have a tea or a coffea break. If officers' meetings are held after lunch hours, there won't be any need for spending tens of thousands of rupees on sumptuous lunches or lunch packets, to the enrichment of caterers. Sometimes, an unnecessary meeting becomes an excuse for consuming sumptuous food at public expense. Such wasteful expenditures must stop. Let Lucknow make a beginning. -Bibekananda Ray camp: Singapore
Eating what? Food or Money? They will do either one of those even if they are barred from on of the two. Agar khaana nahi milega to logo ka paisa khaayenge. Agar paisa nahi milega to logo ki jaan khaayenge.
After coming to power on the slogan of Garibi hatao, Mrs. Gandhi had actually managed to double the income gap between the top 10% and the bottom 90% .... After coming to power on the slogan of "Bhrashtachar hatao, Maawati will triple corruption level of UP :-)
Ok, let me translate maya-talk into real talk: 1. "Only meeting - no eating" - Eating only after my permission and what I allow you to. 2. "No matter the high and mighty connections, a mischief-monger would be dealt with in the most harsh manner" -- Everyone except our party will wishers will be dealt with. Demand big money from high connection individuals. 3. "Criminals and anti-social element should no be allowed to get away under any circumstances; wherever necessary law enforcement authorities must invoke the strict laws including National Security Act against habitual offenders" of course, there are no criminals under BSP, what do you expect?
4. "No statue of anyone will be allowed to be installed anywhere in the state without express permission of the chief minister" -- No statue except OF the Chief minister will be allowed to be installed. 5. While giving a call for plugging pilferage of government funds earmarked for various development schemes, she also prescribed "severe punishment" for those found indulging in corrupt practices.. ----> Only BSP is allowed to loot and steal, no one outside has any authority to to loot. We won the State, only we have the right to steal.
People who live in UP know all these.. no matter who comes to power their basic conditions are unlikely to improve.

Well said Mr. Paanwala, what Mayavathi did in her earlier regime? What about TAJ Corridar? First let her become a model than teaching/giving strict instructions to bureacrates without any eating or coffee brake. This is a cheap gimmick and popularity to make fool the illiterates who are more in her state.
It could be her public stunt, to woo people whatever but it is one of the best thing one can do. I congratulate her for taking this action. Good luck to you Ms Mayawati.
It is known she is corrupt. she obliged the innocent people of UP .she will do lot of good action to obliged the innocent people after that she will start to play real game in side to make money from IAS and PCS and other sources. We do not know yet how much upper cast MLA gave her money for ticket. God bless UP under her regime. Let see rest of money after mulayam how she will utilize
