A Plea to Rediff's editors
by impeccablesits on Mar 30, 2007 02:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is a plea to all the editors of Rediff. No self respecting Indian is intersted in bogus articles like As-Abhishek's marriage. For God's sake, even they want some privacy. We are not interested who wen to whose party last night, or who is having a relationship with whom.

We actually want more articles like this , just not about Bihar, but about other states.
We need this for the development of India. You are the media, take some responsibilty, make a difference, because, we know you can, and you know you can.

Why this ho halla
by santosh tiwari on Mar 30, 2007 02:12 PM  Permalink

I think the so called intelluctuals are captive of so called notion of Bihar. If something wrong is written about Bihar probably they will be more than happy to comment like it can only happen in Bihar. But if something happens for good probably they can't digest. I agree with facts that Bihar has so many problem. But are these so called intellectuals have any interest in solving them. Probably no .So many people abuse Bihari but can I ask this question from these intellectual like whether they have been harmed by Bihari. They just hear something here and there from media or people and jump to conclusion. If you are intellectual then have open mind for everything and accept the facts.

Lets make a difference

Its nice to read something nice written about Bihar, atlast!! I nearly had tears in my eyes when I ready this. I am a half Bihari and half UPite, and am proud of my culture and roots.

Lets face it, the situation in Bihar is not so rosy and to get Bihar on track will be a daunting task, but I am confident we will do it.
When Nitish Kumar came to power, I was really apprehensive as I used to think Nitish and Lalu were from the same breed of poltician.
But, I was proved wrong when I visited Bihar for a couple of weeks, earlier this month. The fact is, Bihar is changing and it is changing for good.
And to make sure that Bihar does progress, it is the responisbilty of us Biharis who live outside India (or even outside Bihar). Why not sponsor a
young kid (who is not able to finsh his/her studies due to finacial concerns) complete their studies. At the most, it will cost you
10,000 Rs. in a year (about 120 pounds/200 dollars). £120 an year is like £10 a month. Its like a couple if pints of beer in a pub, a couple
of packets of Fag and less than what you spend on a visit to the resturaunt!! Thats it, and the difference it will make will be life changing. Trust me, its not difficult, I am 22(graduated and started
working 6 months back) and have already started doing so.

And people from other places, have some shame, respect Bihar and Biharis as we respect you and your state.
Remember, Ancient India IS Bihar. There was no Punjab, No Maharashtra, No Delhi. It was all Patliputra, the capital of India, the centre of education, culture, fashion and even the kamasutra was written here. No other state has given so much to India's history as Bihar has. From the world'd first university
to the number 0, to possibly having something for all religons in the world. Bihar till the 70's was the most well governed state
in India. Every state has its own problems, some to a lesser extent.
Lets put it this way, even in modern India it is more cultured and humble than other places.
- Women are treated with a lot more respect than they are in Delhi or Bombay (Mumbai sounds really stupid, prefer Bombay)
- People in Bihar are a lot more helpful than anywhere else.
- A National survey shows that kids(who get a chance to study) in Bihar understand and do better than students in other states. (Government schools not private ones)
- Educated Biharis do better (and earn better) than educated people from other states.
So, c'mon People, lets do something now, and lets do it big. All you priviliged once, make a difference in the life of someone.
Nothing will satisfy you more than changing someone's life, and eventually Bihar.

Biharis are good
by manoj kumar on Mar 30, 2007 12:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Iam a Keralite, having high regards about Bihari's Determination and dedication out of my experience. Any average person with high eamount of determination and committment is better than a talented person doing nothing. Thats very much true in case of Bihari's. There are corrupt ploticians in Bihar , but can any body say no other state has got any corrupt poltician. many are chor dressed up as gentlemen. Why blame or insult Bihari's????
