why the brahmin bashing still going on
by calmer on Mar 29, 2007 12:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is absurd to keep on the brahmin bashing even now. Brahmins are known to be pious, considerate and sensible in all their acts - to say that they pull down others is a misinformation. True, in the olden days they were given an exalted position by the then rulers, and brahmins weilded great powers. A few misguided brahmins may have shown intolerance. But the ages have changed and they are just a minority now. All opportunities are available to all, irrespective of caste and creed, and every one has equal opportunity to study and come up. What prevents dalits or other under previliged to study and come up in life? Don't blame the brahmins for this. If you you are good, you will definitely grow and nobody will be able to stop you. As mentioned in the article, the dalits are trying to be brahmins, so be it, let the community progress to well being. Let us try to ensure that all get equal opportunity in everything - education, job and all.

It is just easy way they find of accusing Brahmins. They want all the rewards without putting any effort or hardwork. They want Brahmins to remain passive as well.

In current day politics who is not selfish and opportunistic? Don't blame a single cast. Current politics have spoiled all casts in the same way.

Brahimins should help Dalits /Tribals at all levels.
by Rajesh Toppo on Mar 29, 2007 10:18 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Brahimins are the most educated, well positioned lot in India. In the current vote bank politics, brahimins may well become a minority in election politics of India. It is a good oppertunity for brahimins to share their knowledge and experience with dalits/ tribals and help the downtrodden communities to come up in life. Brahmin Dalit & Tribal tie up may become a winning combination, but it is for the brahimins to seize the oppertunity and help dalits and tribals.

It Just Won't Happen

Even CNN-IBN, which is heavily biased against BJP and has been vigorously promoting Mayawati, has shown in its poll that Mayawati will make little inroads into upper caste...just putting up a 100 Brahmins will not do...you also have to treat these groups with dignity and respect, which she has never ever done. She made all types of efforts to woo Muslims, but still has no established trust in that community. SP has Yadavs, Muslims and good section of Upper Castes supporting it. BJP has most of Upper Castes and other OBC's...Mayawati still remains mostly confined to Dalits.

HI ,

It is fact that Brahmins have come away from their superstitions and know that what happened to Dalits was Inhuman to say the least .remember many of Buddha first disciples were Brahmins who opposed the ruthless castesim that prevailed at that time.

u r right friend every body should aware abt it that just making combination is not success but their should be some iodological similarties between brahimin and dalit, I can say that this upper caste will not feel relax under Mayawati rigim and their will again a break in BSP after election. Thakur Brahmin=New Party. And they will support Mulayam again, will be bad for UP politics. BJP will be teethless opposition which should in power but it can,t.

MOST DALITS IN INDIA ARE NOT OPPRESSED BY BRAHMINS. BUT BY OBCS. YOU KNOW BETTER THAN ANYBODY.

TRY TO RAISE DALITS AND MAKE THEM BRAHMIN BY GIVING ALL OUT EDUCATION. THAT'S THE NEED OF THE HOUR.

Chandra Bhan Prasad is a confused person
by Bhaskar Chattopadhyay on Mar 29, 2007 08:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Chandra Bhan Prasad is a confused person. He talks about Dalits, their untouchability while he also condemns gradual place dalits are taking in society, government, industry!

Chandra Bhan Prasad sir: one doesn't become brahmin by birth. Its by actions alone. That's what written in the Gita and the Vedas. Just few lines from Manu-Samhita cannot undo primary ources of Hinduism like the Gita, the Vedas.

There are literally 1000s of examples where socalled dalits became part of mainstream. The Ramayana, the Mahabharata was not written by Brahmins, but by dalits. But Valmiki and Vyas Deva are treated as Guru by Brahmins.

People like Sri Chaitanya Dev, Madabhacharya and so many many Bhakti Movement leaders spoke about equality of people. Since last 1500 years.

STOP LIVING IN ILLUSION. AND STOP BRINGING EUROPEAN POLEMIC LIKE RACE INTO THIS. LOOK THRO INDIAN EYES.

DONOT DIVIDE HINDU SOCIETIES. TALK ABOUT EQUALITY, SIMILARITIES, GOOD EXAMPLES WHICH ARE AVAILABLE IN 1000s FROM ALL PARTS OF INDIA.

brahmanjo brahmana. brahmin is not a caste as per veda. one who knows self is brahmin. none of our gods are brahmin by birth. example :ganapthi, rama , shiva, krishna, vishnu, brahma , none of veda vyasa (basically he is a fisherman). but later the scholars termed themselves are brahmin caste. this was just and occupation based varna system.
brahmin had the opportunity to be with kings and rich and hence they are respected which inturn exploited others.
beware hindus , if we are still like this we will be killed islamic fundamentalist as hindus lost afghan, pakisthan, bangla, now kashmir, tommorrow kerala, day after andhra.. so beware and get out of your prejudices and learn proper vedas
