Only God can say when issues with Pakistan is going to be sorted out. May be this decade or the next or never. We should award the credit of this dispute to our previous rulers. India defeated Pakistan in three wars. India could have took control over pak occupied Kashmir (pok), at that time India was obedient to foreigners and never took advantage of the success. Now discussions are going on and goin on, when it is going to end, no one can predict.

Jaw jaw is better than war war !
by Anurag Shrivastava on Mar 23, 2007 07:43 PM  Permalink

Those opposed to talks must realise that these talks are meant to make sure that there is a hotline between two enemies so that the two do not blast each other away. It is neither a show of strength nor of weakness. Even US spoke USSR even when communism was supposed to be the greatest threat to mankind. We know Pakistan will always cause trouble so what we need to do is to continue to strengthen internal security and not allow politics to affect our ability to fight terror. We have more to fear from the likes of Mulayam Singh Yadav , Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Seetaram Yechuri than from Musharraf and ISI.

Why do we talk to them
by R Singh on Mar 23, 2007 07:33 PM  Permalink

Talking to them is a waste of time. For past 60 years we are doing talking and they are stoking the fires of terrorism and war. Only lnaguage they understand is force and nothing else.

They feel we are weak if we extend our hand for friendship, they feel we are weak if we talk peace with them.

This ridiculous idea that somehow Pakistanis will understand the virtues of mutual coexistence with India is not possible. Their country, their army buildup, their entire orientation is to confront India. It's in their blood and they will not chang their mindset by mere words.

One has to understand the soul of a nation (it's more like a failed state) that believes in perpetual war with India. Their ex-ISI chief Hamid Gul has repeatedly insulted and enraged India with his cavalier "we are equal to 10 of theirs" attitude. If he's the educated elite then I wonder what the rest of these people think.

For Pakistan, peace is something that will allow them to show some Indian songs on their Geo TV. They will mold their entertainment programs to be more accomodating and inclusive to Indian culture. But when it comes to their News, then it's the same old 'Kashmir hamara hai" and settling scores with India.

I cannot trust Pakistan and neither can rest of us.

Dialogue or Delusion??
by Vivek Jaiswal on Mar 23, 2007 07:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dialogue - what Dialogue??

The indians are living in a make-believe world if they think that dialogue with Pakistan is going to give them any headway in any way with Pakistan.

The Pakis are very cleverly using the dialogue to get the indian pressure off them on the borders so that their troops can be redeployed in Baluchistan and other internal trouble spots.

They get brownie points with the US.

Interim - the jehadi's still get trained for anti-india operations. The ISI sends in people - if not via POK - then via Nepal and Bangladesh.

If the Indian establishment think that they are in a dialogue - they are living in a grand delusion. The Pakis are simply buying time for getting a better grip on the internal security and planning their next strike on a train in bombay or a bus in Delhi and in the creation of more khalistans.

Kashmir issue.
by harshit ved on Mar 23, 2007 07:24 PM  Permalink

Kashmir issue is because of Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, and he is solely responsible for the present condition of kashmir. The only way to solve the Kashmir issue is through honest efforts on both sides of the border. but the political parties on both sides do not want this to happen, and belive me this issue will never be solved for generations to come. only a miracle in form of Krishna or allah can solve this.

dialogue with Pakistan
by Anusha R on Mar 23, 2007 07:11 PM  Permalink

ha hah ha every government when in Ministry has three or four round of dialogues with Pakistan - this has been happening for the last 60 years - just imagine how many rounds of dialogues Indian government (governed by many so called secular parties) would have had to resolve a single issue... shame on our democracy and corrupt politicians who always make this a political issue to win votes and rob the country... we all very well know that these stupids cannot resolve this issue and many more innocent people from both the sides would have to sacrifice their lives for these jackals to rule the countries.
