Pakistan citizens by history and inheritence are freedom lovers wherever they are and as such can not be cowed down by dictator culture. It is high time they muster courage and opt for democratic rule of governance forever. This is the best occasion and opportune moment.
i think it would be a disaster for Pakistant as well as the world if Musharaff is forced out or killed. there will be chaos and innocent pakistanis will suffer.
Do not cry out loud for India to break ties with Musharraf. No matter how much bad he is as dictator and he is supporting the terrorist (which all teh Pak presidenst have done in the past) Musharraf still seeks and strives for better relatiosn at leats on papers and in front of UN. So India would be afoll to support Pak citizens who are coming inside India and damaging the nations. India must support Musharraf at diplomatic front. What he does with Pak is his problem, he is the President of that country he knows what is good or Bad.
What a load of crap. She is questioning India's maintaining diplomatic ties to Pakistan because it will alienate the people??? Is she serious?
She needs to take a few lessons from history. Pakistan usually tends to be MORE UNSTABLE when it is governed "democratically." Military dictatorship is the lesser of two evils when it comes to Pakistan.
Seriously, these so called "experts" need a reality check. Pakistan is an unstable nation with a sizeable nuclear arsenal. To institute changes bringing about more instability is like playing with fire. Of course you will have Pakistani activists urging to overthrow Musharraf, after all, the places at highest risk of nuclear proliferation are in India and the west.
"It's a matter of time when he leaves and a change was in the offing," Jahangir said.
"The dictators don't step down and they have to be forced to leave. Public opinion is very much against him and now they have demonstrated that," Jahangir told PTI in an interview in Lahore. ( quote )
She is a Kid and does not understand the world ?

Mahajan bhai, Why dont u come join BJP/RSS/VHP. (If u arent already a member). We need young fiery rabble rousers. The present lot are all old goons who have lost all the fire in them.
I might sound whimsical...I am have been one of the greatest critic of Musharaf's politics. I know that this man was responsible for the Kargil War and I know that this man was is clearly done more damage to Indian diplimacy on kashmir than any of his predecessors. With all full consiousness, I feel that Musharaf's ouster off power is neither good for Pakistan, nor for India, nor for regional peace.
Musharaf, willfully or by force has put his guns against the so called Islamic Fundamentalists in Pakistan and also has done much to keep Taliban under control in the PAK-AFGHAN border. This is given the fact that ISI and Pak army are not fully under his control (nor under any political leader of Pakistan, now and earlier). For his own political interest he has to keep Taliban and other Fundamentalist forces at bay. Now, none of the opposition parties are as strong as the small groups in Pakistan. Any political change now will give space to higher influence of Taliban and other fundamentalist forces in the government, which is neither good for INdia (not just on Kashmir, but in all aspects) nor for the regional peace, since it might jeppardise the current Afghan government. Human Rights activists are right in their perspective but have to think about a larger picture of Pakistan. I dont think Asma Jahangir will be able to promise a better future if Musharaf goes.
they just tested their missile (called Babur). they don't leave any opportunity to insult us knowing full well what these men like Babur did to India. Also troubling is the fact that most of these Pakistani mulsims used to be Hindus and they were forcefully converted to Islam, but still I gues for them the history starts when they got converted. There's a mental block to think more intellectually and objectivley about our shared past.
Launching missiles, insulting India, terrorizing India is in their genes regardless if that country is run by a dictator or a democratic leader. they will hate us anyways. The Kashmir insurgency was started by Beanzir in 1990. The Kargil happened during Nawaz Shariff's time.
So who is Asma fooling? I think she is folling herself if she thinks India will be freindly to anyone.
The outcome of trusting them is something we Indians know full well, and we really don't want to repeat the same mistake again and again.
It's time to end all relations with Pakistan. Close their embassies in India, bring our diplomats from there. Close all river waters and strengthen our military. We don't wnat anything to do with these 'fans of Babar'.
