r u part of Bangladesh refuge who ran for yr life in 1971 and found tough job in begging in Calcutta???
having stayed in bengal for the last few years... n also during the 80s, there are a few stark observations: the old communist rule stifled the mass limiting them to limited aspirations, limited lifestyle & limited resource. the watchword was - allow them more n they would hanker for more. with due respect to the so called 'intellectual' population of the state, crying foul over buddhadev, have they not realized that its the same set of people under the command of jyoti basu that run the govt from alimuddin street? its buddhadev that refused to dance to their tunes. thus a reason to tarnish him n pull him down. he is a leader today without followers in his own party - an unfortunate political scenario. do they also believe that people like mamta banerjee has the IQ to run the govt? one wonders, whats the dividend recievable, behind all these song n dance n poetics n dramatics, that bengal is famous for, in retaliation to the incident. they should rather stand shoulder to shoulder to buddhadev n help him straighten his house.

Dear Arindam, Well said but who is listening? Don't hope that Mamta Banerjee or the Cong people will ever try to thing in straight line. And for Mr. Iqbal, what you are trying to implicate by the word "BONG"? Get out of Bengal, you dude!

Iqbal is right and don't report his message for abuse.. maybe bongs are not used to begging, but they have the supreme ability to pull down their state and anybody who tries to do something good for the state. Bongs should do internship in Gujrat, AP and TN and learn how the people of the sate there kicks out stupids from there and work hard and from the heart to develop their state, including the NRI's.

please teach us... there is a very subtle way of begging among muslims. they sit on the road, but dont ask for alms. instead they pull a sad face n look at you. have seen this in egypt n syria. you can train on the same...

bongs When people outside India say "India is country of snake charmer or beggar" what will you reply Mr. Iqbal? If you are not Pakistani ! Bongs is the core place of India. Sing the song "bande mataram". Janaganamana Adhinayaka". Beggar never leads freedom struggle. Tru, after so-called leftist, BONGs are going backward. But, there is no gulf difference when compared to other places India you people are mentioning. I have visited various states of Bharat (not India). The picture is every where is same inspite of SENSEX boom, FII/FDI boom. Talk less SUPID Iqbal.

Iq-baal, tu ekbaar hath aaja...I'll show you who begs for what...get out of this public forum, you hog-headed(matlab pata hain na?) pathetic moron.
Communist rulers should be taught a lesson in Bengal for all their antipeople antics. Bhattacharya from the moment he joined hands with TATAs has become the ACHARYA of all bad deed. If this goes on Bengal will have to face elections soon and I bet Communists will be defeated in their own backyard for all their association with multinationals and TATAs.

they should learn a lesson or two in begging from you... like you are begging for attention, posting your message across every comment. n you might have other lessons to teach too. fundamentalism, for eg?
It is a matter of grave concern which cannot be resolved by renouncing awards, flaying the CM and asking him to resign. What is the alternative in WB? Of all people, definitely not Mamata Banerjee, a crass and uncouth personality, who can convert the entire Calcutta to a slum and WB can soon vie for the most backward state award. Industrialization is necessary for WB and must be done in a planned way. Having lived out of the state for several years but making it a point to visit every quarter I have noticed the changing attitude in people...I see educated youth to the uneducated labourer all labouring in Maharashtra and Karnataka doing different jobs and earning money. Many of them own land and property back home but that is not enough to survive as they say. When a nation moves from agriculture to services it is not possible to take everyone along....so manufacturing is a necessary mediatory step. I understand the pride of being independent and the pain of giving away land...we need to work out better deals, rehabilitate people and carry everyone along. Capitalism laced with socialism is the need of the hour. Will the Bengali intelligentsia stand up to the situation!!

Your accusation against Mamata has no basis. People of Mahrashtra are self conscious. But in WB, more people involved in politics than any other state in India. In no state, you find so many party offices. In every 5 km there is one party office. Left parties are majorly responsible for it. This party is polluting the young brains of Bengal by encouraging then to enter into politics than making their career. What is the need of the our is people of Bengal should ignore politics and become self conscious. Then rest will automatically come.

Bengal intelligentsia are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites...they can change their thought process in a fraction of second without having any consideration for the future....Buddhadeb Bhattacharya is instrumental in developing new bengal which we see today...in no way he should resign as it will be the death of bengal development...and ceratainly not for the screaming and yelling of a bunch of hypocrites who call themselves intellectuals...and also a group of uncivilized barbarians who call them selves TMC....

agreed 200% sangeeta. & yes, the intelligensia will certainly stand up. also the party needs some purging at this stage. undoubtedly, certain bad elements have crept into the party in the lust for power. otherwise, as we all know, there's no alternative to the left front i bengal. whom to elect? that party which imposed emergency? or that party which demolished the mosque & killed thousands in gujrat? or that party whose supremo is a doctorate from a non existant university?

Sangeeta, who made this situation of bengal. Its these communist and you are want them to continue. For vote politics these very leaders can again turn yr calcutta in the direction where Mamata is taking. Best is to throw both communist and Mamata out. It may be a short term chaos but in long run Bengal has potential of competing with Gujrat, Tamil Nadu ,punjab etc.

And who will fill the power vacuum that will be created? President's rule? Do you have any idea of anarchy that was let loose in Bengal during the President's rule period in 1970s?
For better fortune of Bengal/India these communists should be oust. Whether it is Buddha or Basu or anyone else make no difference. These communist are Gunda element. They are stalinist who believe in killing/ murdering the opponents.

That's a bad reply. You need to digest the fact that CPM cadres have been winning elections for their party by terrorising ordinary citizens. If they want any candidate to wihdraw, they sent a white sari at his sisters place, which means his brother in laws life is in danger. In WB, a common man can not take any state government's policies unless he takes consent from the local CPM chief? Then how can he garner courage to come open & defeat the CMP?

We all agree with you that Buddha is great thing happened to West bengal who has brought some credence to the state in the world business Map . Certainly the cadres of CPM requires some restraint as they grown beyond their masters voice and take the law in their hand and needs immediate clipping . Nowhere the cadres are so beligerant than in this state .

for communists to be oust, there has to be fair election. With CPM cadres terrorising everyone, can there be a fair election? people are afraid of their life, and will succumb to the terror tactics and will be forced to vote for communists.. thats what is happening all these years.

ya, last time the election commission showed unprecedented activism. 5 days voting, central forces, central observoers on helicopters & what not. result? more seats for the left front. so does not that mean that the opposition used to win their seats by fraud? with "free & fair polls", the opposition loses more badly!!! ACCEPT THE FACTS MAN

dear friend, the true fact is that the leftist party got only 50% votes while the opposition got also 50% votes. This was possible because of the election comissions vigilance.Thris true fact was cleverly bypassed by our HONEST CM who always boasted about number of seats but never actually decleared that same number of voters want the opposition in power.accept the fact my dear.
