Sovereignityy is the key
by sree on Mar 16, 2007 07:00 AM  Permalink

A republic is a collection of institutions. If the writ of those institutions -whether police or postman - does not run, then you have to redraw the map of the country leaving Nandigram and singur out.

Like it or not, India is an electoral democracy. People get what they deserve in a democracy. And you stick with it for 5 yrs - the price of voting (or not) for a particular party.

The report says the villagers "kept some villages out of bounds" and "dug up the roads". Who are these people to destroy the product of my tax rupees? You have a problem with a govt policy, you
a) go to court
b) write to your MP
c) start a political lobby group, and influence public policy.

As a hardcore nationalist who supports the RSS and the BJP, I am hereby doing the politically unthinkable - I support Buddhadhev bhattacharya's resolve in upholding the constitution of my nation-state - The Indian Republic

Bangalee need Freedom
by Uttamkumar Samanta on Mar 16, 2007 01:44 AM  Permalink

We Bangalee look for freedom from barbaric communists at any cost. May next Govt be bad, but bangalee wants freedom from Communists. Most important thing is communists are/were never communists as it means for common people.
In the hand of communists the freedom of civilized society lost, basic right of the common people destroyed, democracy is ruined.
British didnot want to leave India on the gound that "next Govt in India would be worse than what we are". But Freedom fighters wanted british leave our country, although they know next Govt might be worse (which was not moto of their struggle).

Bengal Future is bleak
by Bharti Dewangan on Mar 15, 2007 08:41 PM  Permalink

First it was Leftist who oppose any development done by congress. Result they came to power. Now after ruining bengal for 30 years good sense in them prevailed in them. Trying to improve Bengal ...guess what congress (which ever variation is it) using communist tactics to gain popularity.. might even come to power... who is the looser of course Bengal.

Bengalis throw both Mamta and leftist out of power and try to get same status what u used to have b4 duing independence time.

Bloody Communists

Bloody Communists should be PUNISHED instead of Common people. Common people should teach them a leason and vote for non-communist parties during next election.

Left wants the cream from both sides - Money from rich foreigners & Votes from poor junta.
by Sofia Sinha on Mar 15, 2007 07:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

They seemed to have paid the media to create a furore during heated discussions between Chief Minister & Jagmohan Dalmiya - then BCCI chief on the same day 31st July 2006 when they SILENTLY passed 26000 acres (yes!! 26 thousand acres) of land to Salem group of developers (read Internation realty grabbers)......and before election they managed supports from Star Ananda Channel to make people believe (through the so called 'polls') that by ALL means Left Front is going to win over Trinamool

Congress of Mamta - and a large part of the mass really swayed that way. And all these on Nandigram & Singur will go on -----

but NOT upto near the next election. Because they need to win again. Only if a SNAP election happens right now, then AND THEN ONLY it is possible for TMC to come to power & save Bengal.

Just a bit out of context, but this will show nature of comrades ( :-) ): Ask a Calcuttan, each will say that 2000 to 2005,

TMC took Calcutta Corporation and changed the total Scape of the city. Now that Left has again come to even city corporation

board, Calcutta has already started looking shabby. Left wants cream off all worlds - rich from riches, votes from the poor

and power from Congress also...they revolted most at Centre for increase of Petrol & Diesel....but does anyone know that

people in West Bengal pays HIGHEST surcharge on fuel ( the money which goes to the State Government).....if they really are against hike in Fuel prices, why didnot they themselve reduce the same in their own state at first?

The road condition in Kolkata during 2000-05 was much worse compared to previous regime, I don't know the status of now.

Also, out of 4 metros, the fuel price in Kolkata is 2nd lowest (after Delhi). So, I don't know where from you've got this info.

Stop writing nonsense and get your bearings right first.

In a book published by Rupa & Co, (Letters of JRD Tata)I saw some letters written by communists to Tata during 50s, 60s, 70, 80s....where they are fully oiling the Tatas.....but during the same time they went to public to say that Capitalists are bad....And see the changed tiem.....they have staretd to do the same thing....now openely....

If u r a gentleman like Bengali or Non-bengali from cities with revolt in mind but not in action yet, then please write to sinhasofia001@rediffmail.com to join an Anti CP(I)M front and then in a team join Mamta Banerji...(we might not be Trinamool....but we will provide different kinds of resources to Mamta - money, effort, advice etc etc)

Nandigram Firing inhuman
by on Mar 15, 2007 07:12 PM  Permalink

Government has a duty to protect the iterests of the public under the constitution of a social welfare state.Hence if people are opposing a development project, the government has to convince the people through their elected representatives and if the project really helps them in developing their region, they will be too happy to welcome such people-friendly projects. In a democrasy, with people's consent every project succeeds and without it,nothing will succeed in the long run, according to former US president,Lincoln Abraham who was a great humanist and a statesman
