nandigram
by trikarn on Mar 15, 2007 02:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

it is the result of our lop sided view of growth.

it is always easy to have development in parts.

since india has lots of poor, why bother to uplift them, anyway what use it it.

so develop the rich make thwem richer and damn the poor, esp farmers.

there is asecret feeling among our rich you know what,

if half of our useless populace is dead, aha we will have all the land of theirs.

this makes them drool.....

so we see all these unfortunate happenings

The likes of Arundhati Roy must be in a quandry. This time its their beloved Communists who are in the eye of the storm for their role in the Nandigram violence. The Communists are now seen as helping the Foreign Capitalists to grab poor farmers land. WHERE ARE YOU ARUNDHATI ROY AND COMPANY WITH YOUR CROCODILE TEARS. I guess you are absent because there is no BJP to blame.

For all who are justifying Nandigram killings!
by on Mar 15, 2007 02:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For all who are defending the police killings in Nandigram yesterday holding the law and order disruption created by opposition and Naxalites responsible, I need to ask you something.

For all who are students here....Are you going to let your schools and colleges close if the authorities decide to shut it down to build a factory there? They'll pay you hefty compensation money for the losses.

For all who are working...I assume that you all are specialized in some domain or the other like the farmer's domain is farming. Will you quit you job if you are forced to do so in the name of whatever it may be? You know that what you know is to work in your domain and if you quit, whatever money you may get as compensation, a day'll come when you'll starve.

I an sure the answer is no...none of us will be willing to sacrifice such things for any reason. Sacrificing a house for land acquisition is easy since you know that you can build a new one with the money you get as compensation...but sacrificing the farming land is too hard when you know that what you know is only farming. Will industrialization in any way help these farmers? It may help engineers, skilled labourers but never these poor people (who sweat in the sun and drench in the rain all through the year to build their crops and then fall into party-politics at the time of harvest, striving hard to sell their reap).

It's high time we stop thinking of our own selfish benefits and start thinking beyond that. Because, what is happening to those poor people might one day come uopn us. If we don't protest now, it may be too late.

P.S: For those who think that thinking of farmers will go against industrialization, I can assure you that, unless motivated by ohter fishy reasons, there are host of other ways and acres of barren land there in West Bengal, which if utilized optimally, can bring industrialization, svaing the poor farmers cause too.

Voilence should not be used for any provocation. Governament high handedness is condemnable.

I request Indian governament should ban SHOOTING at mob. They should come out with different technique to deal with the mob. for example american have researched a bomb kind of thing, when exploaded people cant bare the steanch and will disburse.

So police department should involve in R & D to deal with mob.

Bullet should not be used on our own people

Well said Kim. But this bullshit communist party led by 'Hitler' Buddha does enjoy seeing blood of poor farmers. This is the high time that this corrupt govt. should be thrown out of power. All democratic Indians are invited to join hands with all the anti-CPI(M)forces to do justice in West Bengal.

Gross Human Rights Violation
by Abdul Hameed on Mar 15, 2007 02:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Communists should be voted out of power in the entire country. Now their ugly face is unmasked before people. They are neither with labourers nor with farmers. In fact they can sell the entire country to enemies. The Congress party has totally given up its ideology given by Pandit Nehru. Today it doing the bidding of fascist forces. They have brought the country on the verge of several divisions. Hope people do not see their short-term advantages and oust Congress and Communists out of power

BENGAL'S NEW AGE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION-CPM STYLE?
by arnab bhattacharya on Mar 15, 2007 02:21 PM  Permalink

The great leftists of our country having extolled the ideals of socialism in all its wrongful interpretation and usage, over half a century, have only manifested inefficiency, indiscipline, insubordination, corruption and hypocrisy. The spirit of business and free enterprise have been besmirched to be crime and those who followed termed 'class enemies'.
Suddenly it dawned on them, big business and industry would be a boon for development but having scorned and sneered private business for decades. It speaks of their intrinsic confusion and contradictions.
However, in the process , politically no quarter has been taken into confidence . Fertile , arable lands have suddenly been earmarked for private industries and SEZs for reasons not properly explained. Entire process of land acquisitions have not been justified and transparent.
A fear psychosis and antagonism prevails amongst the rural agrarian community of their holdings to be forcibly taken over .
The bottom line is , the ruling party is in a hurry to earn cheap credit and showcase a make belief truth of industrial progress, being totally delinked from the ground reality ,ignorant of the plight and sentiment of the common people.
Brute and arrogance is the face of those in power. An impartial judiciary, vibrant press
and agile citizens%u2019 consciousness may help to contain the repression and expose to the whole country of an industrial policy which is neither workable nor acceptable.
