If you think that some job is not safe you should not do it. You should be sure of doing things. The equipment or the grenade may be of low quality/not tested one/or brought from a third party low cost manufaturer. You have to have people with integrity to dig into the reason. Which I suppose will never happen in "INDIA"
While feeling sorry for cadet, was just wondering - why do we only feel this way when a brave soldier dies this way "serving his country" . Thousands of people risk their lives every day for the country's welfare - the electrician who climbs poles and repairs live wires with bare hands repairing exposed electrical circuits, the hapless traffic cop who stands in the heat and dust and pollution day in and day out,the havaldar who gets stabbed and dies trying to catch armed robbers and snatchers leaving behind a famliy without any source of income, the miners who work in hazardous conditions to get coal ....... why is it that NO one ever comments on their fate or praises their loyalty and "brave" sacrifice for the country when accidents happen to them. How many times has any trust or fund been set up the way it is for soldiers who die defending their country. Or is it that the sacrifices made by the civilians is less than their uniformed counter parts.Don't get me wrong - I am not in anyway undermining the sacrifcies made by soldiers - my point here is to give equal support to civilians as well. An accident is an accident - could happen anywhere - but having a support system for one category and ignoring the other is a little unfair.

You dont get it do you. He is a "S O L D I E R". A person, who's profession is to defend your life ( meaning civilian's ). The article is pointing out at the lack of standards in training and eqp. in our country.

Thanks for enlightening me O enlightened soul - I guess the police and others who are killed in action saving others lives while on duty are not "SOLDIERS" and hence do not deserve any attention. Show me one area operated by the govt. in our country which has some training standard ? And the way you point it out is as if it is some kinda abberation than the rule.
What have people come to.... A soldier died in routine training exercise & everybody starts blaming someone..... Some Genius couple of comments below blamed it on ISLAM & another brilliant mind thinks its ISI so we should start the hunt...
What a pack of losers.... Its common sense... That in a training like this there ought to be some accidents... Every Army has them... it was unfortunate that the soldier had to die... but it was fate..
So why not just condole the family for their loss & stop the bullshit flaming others.....
Rediff should not disclose the names of the victims in public without first getting their family's permission. This is considered unethical and violation of victim%u2019s right of privacy in news reporting standards.
By the time u guys read this news, the body of Major Manish Pitambare, who was shot dead at Anantnag, would have been cremated with full military honors.
On Tuesday, this news swept across all the news channels 'Sanjay Dutt relieved by court'. 'Sirf Munna not a bhai' '13 saal ka vanvaas khatam' 'although found guilty for possession of armory, Sanjay can breath sigh of relief as all the TADA charges against him are withdrawn' Then many personalities like Salman Khan said 'He is a good person. We knew he will come out clean'. Mr Big B said "Dutt's family and our family have relations for years he's a good kid. He is like elder brother to Abhishek". His sister Priya Dutt said "we can sleep well tonight. It 's a great relief"
In other news, Parliament was mad at Indian team for performing bad; Greg Chappell said something; Shah Rukh Khan replaces Amitabh in KBC and other such stuff. But most of the emphasis was given on Sanjay Dutt's "phoenix like" comeback from the ashes of terrorist charges. Surfing through the channels, one news on BBC startled me. It read "Hisbul Mujahidin's most wanted terrorist 'Sohel Faisal' killed in Anantnag , India . Indian Major leading the operation lost his life in the process. Four others are injured.
It was past midnight, I started visiting the stupid Indian channels, but Sanjay Dutt was still ruling. They were telling how Sanjay pleaded to the court saying 'I'm the sole bread earner for my family', 'I have a daughter who is studying in US' and so on. Then they showed how Sanjay was not wearing his lucky blue shirt while he was hearing the verdict and also how he went to every temple and prayed for the last few months. A suspect in Mumbai bomb blasts, convicted under armory act...was being transformed into a hero.
Sure Sanjay Dutt has a daughter; Sure he did not do any terrorist activity. Possessing an AK47 is considered too elementary in terrorist community and also one who possesses an AK47 has a right to possess a pistol so that again is not such a big crime; Sure Sanjay Dutt went to all the temples; Sure he did a lot of Gandhigiri but then........ ...
Major Manish H Pitambare got the information from his sources about the terrorists' whereabouts. Wasting no time he attacked the camp, killed Hisbul Mujahidin's supremo and in the process lost his life to the bullets fired from an AK47. He is survived by a wife and daughter (just like Sanjay Dutt) who's only 18 months old.
Major Manish never said 'I have a daughter' before he took the decision to attack the terrorists in the darkest of nights. He never thought about having a family and he being the bread earner. No news channel covered this since they were too busy hyping a former drug addict, a suspect who's linked to bomb blasts which killed hundreds. Their aim was to show how he defied the TADA charges and they were so successful that his conviction in possession of armory had no meaning. They also concluded that his parents in heaven must be happy and proud of him.
Parents of Major Manish are still living and they have to live rest of their lives without their beloved son. His daughter won't ever see her daddy again. Finally Major Manish, to my generation is a greater hero, someone who laid his life in the name of this great nation.
So guys, please forward this message around so that the media knows which news to give importance, as it is a shame for us since this Army Major's death news was given by a foreign TV channel!!!

Hi, I am completely agree with your logic.. We should salute out real heros, not our filmi heros.. They are making money living a lavish life. I really salute Major Manish, He is one of the greates hero. Thanks

dear manmohan Jain, Looks like you took a lot of effort to put the whole thing in the right perspective. We need many more like you in our country to salute our heroes. A nation without the right heroes and role models is a nationn on the pathway to destruction. Our youth should know who the actual heroes are. Best regards and keep up the good work
Its quite important for the army trainees to get trained with the actual weapons itself. But at the same time, an army jawan's life is too precious to be lost in a freak accident like this. Poor guy, he was not even able to serve his country before his death. Thats tragic. With the technology so advanced, can't we have something like a virtual reality training.. or atleast use a dummy grenade, which has exact weight, size etc of original, except for the power and impact. Only IMA can answer.

I agree with you. How can army let live wepons be handled by young untrained hands. Very sad and Bad at the same time. I hope they had a system in place to train their cadet with simulated or similar component but not live and hand them live weapons only if each and every one is certified and well trained to handle.

I am from the Armed Forces. We have no time to pussy foot in the Army. the more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war. Training should be with live ammunition, War is not a joke, We would rather loose a few lives in training, than to put our troops to disaster in battle, and ultimately loose the war
The accident which has taken place is very tragic. We cant blame any1 for this, these things do happen when we handle weapons, but a little extra care may minimise the harm. dummy grenades with less power and definatly without sharpnels may help! i have all the sympathy for the family members of Mr. Vijay Tiwari. May God bring them out of this tragic event.
