Mulayam Singh's bitter PIL
by anantha krishna on Mar 07, 2007 06:48 PM  Permalink

i think in every state you should have a person like CHATURVEDI. Then when the claims by such people are true auction their illegal properties and dump all the money to Govt Exchequer but must be ensured that money does not circulate as BLACK once again by these so called political thugs. I HOPE INDIANS UNDERSTAND WHY INDIA IS STILL IN DEVELOPING STAGES EVEN AFTER 59 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE.

Mistakes in the story
by on Mar 07, 2007 06:22 PM  Permalink

The second para of the story mentions that the case was against Lucknow Development Authority for cancelling the plots, whereas actually the case was for allotting the 28 plots to people allegedly close to chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Also, in Yadav's response, I think Gomti Nagar is in Lucknow and not in Etawah as is written in the story.

R we not responsible for electing and handing govermment in hands of such people. Why r the people of India still divided on caste, religion, regionalism and personal interests after 60 years of independence. We should not blame leaders, it is we who elect them.

U r absolutely right. Before blaming others v should look at ourselves. Politicians r dividing us and v r blindly following them just bcoz he is from our cast or religion. Does it makes any difference in our life. I am not talking about only Yadavs. This is happening in every part of our country. But v can see thousands of people assuming that our leader will do something for us and they are working hard to ensure that their leader wins and makes government. What happens after that ?? The leader becomes a crorepati and the worker is still 'ROADPATI'. What a progress ?? And above all next time these same people again trust the same leader and making themselves fools. On top of that some great personalities like Bachan Sahab r misleding the people by saying 'UP Main Jurm Kam Hain.' Such a responsible person and irresponsible act. Dosti Apne Ghar Par Rakho. Logo Ko Bewakoof Mat Banao.

Mulayam's Money power Muscle power
by on Mar 07, 2007 06:09 PM  Permalink

It appears that Mr. Mulayam is fond of accumulating Money power and he is already having muscle power to continue to rule UP the biggest State of India. The creators of Constitution of India made big blunder in awarding right of franchise to persons attaining 18 years age instantaneously disregarding his/her qualifications. The mojority of the people in India are concerned for solving their day to day problems of Roti, Kapada aur Makan. And they are exploited by the politician with Money Muscle power to rule India. The effective and matured democracy in the world is in Enland, where they gradually awarded franchise to cover all the persons. The latest one was to Women in UK were given franchise in around 1926 in the democratic span of more than 450 years.
So, the incidents of Mulayam are not uncommon in the present political scenerio in India. And Chturvedis are very few with courage and gits to take political leavarage!

The UP Tragedy
by Shaikh Iqbal on Mar 07, 2007 06:07 PM  Permalink

What Mulayam tries to hide is more visible as he makes submisssions! He has failed the people of the state and the nation in his term(s) as the Chief Minister of the State. As long as he has "colleagues" like Amar Singh who are more interetsed in being in the news by their "antics" and "silly statements" and CMs like Laloo / Mulayam etc. we would never prosper as a nation.

The Supreme Court is an Institution which deserves tremendous appreciation. The Supreme Court should take from the Investigating Agencies (esp CBI) "direct reporting" on cases against politicians amassing fortunes at rhe expense of the development of the State. The Supreme Court should take the caes(s) to it's/their logical conclusion and award exemplary punishment [including perjury and comtenpt of court] to politicians found guilty and the Election Commission should lay guidelines for our MLAs/MPs being "legitimate" graduates and having enough experience of "social work" before taking to electoral contests.

The fact that many people write "Social Service" as their PROFESSION while filling election nomination forms is a tragedy. These people have truly turned social service into a profession.

IS the EC/SC listening? Please don't disappoint us. We look toward you with a lot of hope for a better tomorrow for the nation!!!
