Ya we have to take our leads. 26th July is the memorable day. All Mumbaikars had suffered on that day but still we did nothing to avoid it. Municipal Corporation after that flood put forwarded many operations and policies but useless when Monsoon comes... Municipal Corporation in Mumbai is a big time failure..why cant we just take it seriously spent sometime for the future and move in a right way instead of always complaining.... we can make it happen...

I am not a Mumbaikar....but what you prescribed is exactly what needs to be done. The vast middle class should peacefully protest.

People do not understand Why they blame municipal corporations in fact there are people who are responsible like builders and others .Mumbai population is growing like anything every year people from all parts of India comming in to the cities for their lively hood .No mun.corporation can help people from natural disasters ,We can see the example across the world .the root cause lies with the stupid politicians. we can see these jokers How they spoil the sanctity of Rastrapati Bhavan. Every where it happens right from the village of Bihar to the Parliament of Delhi. Politicians of any Party do not have VISION for future India. Apart form this Blind belief is deep rooted India .we are the victim of our own believes. O God save us .

Media can also highlight something better
by nityanand on Jul 01, 2007 01:19 AM  Permalink

Media and people can also do something about planning this. Media just keeps showing different places that are under water and reports losses that have occured because of these rains.

Instead of pointing towards corporation and government which is very slow in action,I feel Media should do detailed analysis of various geographies and work out with private infrastructure companies to suggest various solutions to government and highlight those to govt and people.
Round the year Media should always keep highlighting the percentage of work pending and done regards to Infrastructure development.

Mumbai is facing Heavy Rains these days as it was earlier. Today it rained so cruely that it took 16 lives. Several persons were killed by rains in the past years also. The life was worst before and still it is worst today due to rain in Mumbai. But still Mumbai Corporation officials are unaware oh these things. Why ??? Can they explain? Please stop this. Save lives.

and instead to making cases against the ministers for not doing enough, we are pleased to file cases against shilpa shetty and richard gere. We indians are used to take shit from politicians who dont provide the basic infrastructure and warning systems. We pay for it with our lives.

RE:Population Control and Illegal Immigrants
by Rehman SH on Jul 01, 2007 09:20 AM  Permalink
It is true that our dwelling places are much compacted with people, bounded by concrete walls. Along with population control, immigration control, one most important thing to be done is consumption control. Always try to scale your sorroundings with natural habitat, not with USA, Saudi or England. We have become so obcessed with material development that we have forgotten to save nature gifted pure air, potable water and unadulterated healthy food. Instead to achieve undesirable artificial development we are keeping this biological systems in non-compatible concrete and plastic sorroundings. To get basic elements of life (air, water & food), we should inculcate to reestablish multi-tier hetero vegetation both on farm lands and urban sorroundings. We should stop hated towards nature and undesirable affinity towards arrogantly created artificial habitats. All wise people should start allocating at least 75% of our owned land under multi-tier vegetation and 25% only and hardly under concrete slabs or pavings. This will allow soil to absorb, store and supply water incessantly.
