It's a pity that a city that gives almost 40% tax returns to Central Govt. has to suffer the same odds every year. I consider myself lucky that I don't have to stay there.

The 40% tax is used for building houses for slums only to secure their votes and hence no money to spend on the basic infrastructure for this city, this is the one reason they are not stopping people from other states and not developing other states. THis is all politics and we like fool vote every year to these bureacrates

Then the representatives should be made to walk in water logged area and travel through crowded trains from virar to Chuchgate during peak hours and when the trains are raining behind scheduled they should not be surrounded by body guards, they should be asked to hide their identity so they will know what problems the common men faces. These representatives are really fit for nothing

I am not frustrated, i quite kool i am proud that i stay in Mumbai and a part of all its ups and downs. The message is only to bring awarness to the people who do not want to vote. I don't go for voting, so it hardly matters. But when we have the rights why not use them only when required. ANd secondly i am enjoying rains so even if water loggs i can manage I am gret because I stay in Mumbai a city with ups and downs, so you also enjoy rains and let people talk any bullshit of Mumbai, Mumbai is mumbai and has its own Karsima, what say

Then lets not vote read the below article Do you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone! Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".
Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the Candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them.
This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....
Please spread this news to as many as you know... Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is ven more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance.
So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this information.

thats a load of nonsense about mumbai's corporate tax contribution ,which i have been hearing for years. The fact is many corporations are headquatered in mumbai but have factories all over india and all over the world. so tata has factories in places like bihar and jharkhand and tea gardens in the north east. most of the income for these companies comes from places outside bombay. so lets stop blowing mumbai's contribution out of propertion

It is shame that you are taking pride in going to work next day after every calamity.Of course you have been reduced to a sitiuation where you have no option but to go for work as one can not afford to stay back at home no matter how many people die in a calamity.I pity on Mumbaikars.I would have been proud if Mumbai open its eyes for happenings around it.

Heavy rains in Mumbai is due to the global warming and global warming is due to the hot stars all accumulated in Mumbai alone. Sure global warming is high in Mumbai because of Aish, Rani, Preity, Lara, Shilpa, Urmila, Tabu etc. in Mumbai alone. If we can ask them to shift each one to each city, global warming can be reduced from Mumbai. How is this idea

All our planners, thinkers, and we ourselves should try our best to start living in natural conditions, giving a small space for concrete structures to stand and more space for rain water to be imbibed into soil where ever it strikes the ground. If we make hundreds of hectares of land concretized or barren, no doubt we are inviting runoff, consequently floods. At last me have developed to such an extent that we have forgotten to save and protect the three most important elements for our living that - pure air, potable water and unadulterated food. Except this we are getting all other thing on this earth, now. These things nature has provided us. But we destroyed it arrogantly to hurl the flag of material development. At least now everybody should try to give less importance to live in concrete structures and more importance to live in natural locales, that is within our residential or office boundaries. When 75% of living space is covered with vegetation and only and hardly 25% with bloody concrete, the human existence can be guaranteed for the future. Otherwise the human existence itself will be questionable. More planting - less mining, more naturality - less artificiality, is demanding. Try to minimize all kinds of pollution at all three stages like mining, manufacturing and utilization levels, as whatever we are now noticing is due to global warming. The main culprit here is our unending wants, those demand manufacturing, that in turn demand mining.
PLease remember vashi and surrounding areas will not affect by rain water clogging due to storm water drains are in place.Mumbai also should have such infrastructre to avoid these problems

every year on date rain showers mumbai and the same story we all read about mumbai flood situations. whats important for mumbaits today is let them learn from chennaits on rain water harvesting system and adapt the same system in mumbai. if this is done next year we wont read such news on rain creating havoc, floods etc. people in chennai also criticised RWH in the initial stages until they tasted the true success. today everyone volunteers in their house to install RWH and drive water scarcity during summers.

The sea is rising by a millimeter every week because of global warming. JVPD will be taken over by the sea in the next two to three years. Move out before it is too late.
